KAC Picks Up Service Reform Award
The 37th National Quality Management Convention recognizes airport service quality improvement
President Sung Si-chul of Korea Airports Corp. (KAC) said he and all officers and staff would like to thank everyone concerned in connection with KAC winning the Service Reform Award at the 37th National Quality Management Convention held on Dec. 13, 2011 at COEX in southern Seoul.
"KAC is a professional organization that has been opening the heavenly roads for our airplanes to fly for the past three decades and has been exerting its efforts to reform and change under customer-centered managem-ent designed to move customers with the quality services based on its professional-ism,"the CEO said.
"KAC will take this occasion as an opportunity to make itself an airport that customers want to revisit by rendering continuous service reform and a top-flight airport that the entire Korean people will be proud of,"he said.
KAC traces back to the International Airport Management Corp., launched in 1980, and has been taking charge of running international airports including Gimpo Airport, Incheon International Airport, and 14 domestic airports, making a huge contribution to the development of the airport industry in Korea.
In 2005, the company set up special teams to improve its customer services on a sustainable basis and in 2009, the company increased the manpower at its customer service units through increased investment and support to make its customer services advanced despite the reduction in the number of employees in line with the government's policy at government-run corporations.
The company has also been collecting public opinions on airport services through various channels including the CS Management Committee, made up of company management and professional groups; The Voice of Consumer Committee, made up of staff who always deal with customers; the Consumer Evaluation Committee, made up of professionals and the passengers who use the airports often; and the CS Marketer Committee, made up of college students, which they then reflect these opinions in the company's policies.
Also in 2009, the company set up 'Heavenly Voice', the voice of the customers system connecting all the airports in Korea under its management to collect all kinds of customer opinions on airport service, which were analyzed in 2010 to find out the most frequent complaints about airport services around the country. Those complaints were informed to the company units that deal with customers so that they can be prevented.
KAC was established in 1980 to carry out efficient construction, management, and operation of airports as well as seamless air transportation. As an organization specializing in airport management, KAC manages and operates a total of 14 airports in Korea including Gimpo, Gimhae, Jeju, Daegu, Gwangju, Cheongju, and Yangyang International Airport. KAC also manages the Area Control Center, 10 VOR/TACs, and the Korea Civil Aviation Academy.
Under the Vision 2020, the KAC aims to create "Biz & Life"as a globally recognized organization specializing in airport management that provides impressive customer services and fulfills its social responsibilities. Highly committed to value, developing aviation safety, and achieving customer satisfaction, KAC will continue to provide services that employees can be proud of, satisfying the public and earning the trust of customers through managerial standards and operational excellence.
In the meantime, KAC won the top ranking among 208 public organizations in the evaluation of the company's measures to prevent corruption by the 2011 Human Rights Committee for a third consecutive year, according to the committee's announcement on Jan. 10.
KAC won the nomination as an excellent firm in the area of integrity in the previous year and thus won the exemption in the evaluation of integrity in the following year. By winning the nomination as a corruption-free enterprise, it has strengthened its position as a top firm in the area of integrity among public companies in Korea. nw
