A mong roughly 250 people on hand at the gathering were Minister of Knowledge Economy Hong Suk-woo,; GS Caltex Chairman Hur Dong-soo,; SK Innovation President Koo Ja-young,; S-Oil CEO Ahmed Subey,; Daesung Group Chairman Kim Young-hoon,; Korea Petroleum Association Chairman Park Chong-ung,; Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co. KEF Chairman Kim Ki-chun said in a speech, "With the energy business community taking the lead, donating a drum of heating oil, a gas canister and paying up electricity bills in arrears will warm up the frozen hears of the underprivileged, and I extend whole-hearted thanks to energy firms for their donation of contributions and giving words of encouragement."
MKE Minister Hong thanked energy business firms for transforming the conventionally import-oriented energy sector into an export-intensive one, contributing partly to the nation's surpassing the $1 trillion trade threshold. "I appeal for your energy business community to spearhead technology innovation and massive investments for creating jobs, to promote energy welfare for the underprivileged and to invigorate conventional markets," he said.
The participants shared the view that the energy business community will give itself wholly to serve as a driving force behind the nation's goal of realizing the $2 trillion trade era and it will proactively participate in energy-sharing campaigns. nw
