Two huge exhibitions show off energy saving and new renewable energy with foreign buyers
The 2011 Korea Energy Grand Exhibition closed its four-day run from Oct. 19-22, which assembled in one place the largest number of high-level "green" technologies in Korea at Coex in southern Seoul, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said recently.
On display at the global event were new green technologies and products put on show by 247 companies from 13 countries who developed them last year.
Sideline events included a seminar, sales talks and exhibition halls for general public for green technologies and products. They also included the Green Ocean Forum(solar energy), the International Wind Power Forum and other international seminars.
The exhibition styled after B2B events attracted some 108 domestic companies in the new and renewable energy area and some 20 foreign companies in the same area led by Vestas, the largest firm in the wind power generation in the world and TrinaSolar, the world's 5th largest solar energy company.
Kotra also held consultations on energy exports and presentation of citations for those who contributed to the development of new and renewable energy.
The event this time was different from others in the past in that it included events for general public, not only for business firms so that the public can feel physically what new and renewable energy is all about. Families were invited to assemble solar-powered fans, and wind-powered cars at the event so that they would become friendly for the use of new and renewable energy at their homes.

The exhibition was geared to show a number of measures for saving energy at homes, buildings, and saving energy in operating smartgrid, home appliances, the system for cutting off reserve energy, among others. It also showed off houses built with materials that can save energy, in fact a green home that uses the minimum energy as a core of low carbon green growth policy.
The commercial and transport sectors attracted public attention by using a LED display room and highly effective energy control system and products saving energy that can lead the climate control equipment market.
The exhibition also showed off how electric cars and green vessels can save energy with no exhaust fumes in compliance with low carbon green growth policies.
Sideline events included eight booths for job information in the green energy sectors and presentations on energy savings policies of other nations in the world.
