Green technologies and products approved with green certification were on exhibit at the Renewable Energy Korea 2011 at COEX in southern Seoul from Oct. 19-22.
The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and 12 green-certified firms have set up the Green Certification Pavilion at the Renewable Energy Korea 2011 expo.
Visitors at the pavilion are expected to be given an opportunity to get a glimpse at the green technologies and products developed by the green-certified firms, take a look into green energy sources available in their daily life, and look back on the meaning and values of energy efficiency.
Among the green technologies and products on display are a conversion technology for 2-megawatt-and-below class PMG-type wind turbines that are in grid code compliance, developed by PLASPO Co.; a cooling and heating technology using geothermal heat, developed by KAJIN Co.; an air environment harmful gas and odor-causing substance-sensing electrochemical gas sensor technology developed by SENKO Co.; and a bio-fuel converter technology for agricultural machinery, developed by Neotek Co.
KIAT held a session on the explanation of the green certification system on the morning of Oct. 20. It offered consultations on the specifics of the green certification system, including application, technology classification and technology levels.
That afternoon, KIAT held an investor relation session on green certification firms. Representatives of venture capital companies interested in the investment in green-certified firms and investment experts of green-growth fund management companies held consultations on financial strategies, the evaluation of corporate values, and investment negotiations.
Visitors to the Green Certification Pavilion were gien the opportunity to understand the importance of the green certification system and the achievements the system has made in accordance with the Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth, which went into force on April 14, 2010.
Delivering a speech marking the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Korea, President Lee Myung-bak declared a plan to present 'low-carbon, green-growth' as an axis of a new vision. "Green growth is sustainable growth that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution. It is a paradigm of new national development that creates a new growth engine and employment through green technology and clean energy," he said.
The introduction of the certification system for green technologies, businesses and companies was reviewed to clearly provide the object and scope of supporting green investment and a concentration on it. As a result, green certification is currently being implemented to determine whether an appropriate technology or project shows promise. On Jan. 13, 2010, the Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth was proclaimed. On April 14, 2010, the Operational Guideline for Green Certification was announced, and the green certification system took effect. nw
