More Loans to Gen. Public

New Pres. Kim Kyung-ho of Housing Finance Corp. promises more loans to the general public and fair and transparent management

President Kim Kyung-ho of the Korea Housing Finance Corp. (KHFC) said he will lead the company to provide more loans to the general public by securing more funds in the days ahead and expand its business territory in his inaugural speech on Aug. 2.
The new CEO said the rationale for the existence of the KHFC is to provide financial support to the people and he called on officers and staff to take pride in their mission to make the nation's basics solid and work hard at it.
He continued on to say that reform is the only way for survival in this fast changing world, especially when new rivals emerge. We have to remove the fears of change, which will lead the reform, and think about new ways and visions for the company in a dynamic manner. He said fairness and transparency in managing an organization are absolute values and he means to promote them through their systems.
Kim is a graduate of Seoul National University with a major in administration and earned a master's degree in administration from SNU Graduate School as well as a master's degree in economics at American University Graduate School in the United States.
Kim passed the 21st State Civil Servant High-level Exam in 1977 and started his public service career with the Ministry of Finance, handling such key positions as director of public fund management and chief public relations officer and director at the Asia Development Bank before being assigned to consultant at the Capital Market Research Institute last year.
KHFC is a public financial company set up on March 1, 2004, in accordance with the KHFC Act. The mission of the KHFC is to improve the welfare of the public and facilitate the development of the national economy by increasing the supply of reliable, long-term housing finance. It is a quasi-governmental organization managing funds under the Public Institution Operation Act. KHFC has been undertaking the issuance of housing finance credit guarantees and the securitization of mortgages by consolidating the Housing Finance Credit Guarantee Fund, established in 1987 to improve the housing situation for low-income households, and Korea Mortgage Corp., founded in 1999 for the securitization of mortgage.
Beginning on July 12, 2007, KHFC launched the innovative JooTaekYeonKeum, a reverse mortgage scheme allowing senior citizens to put up their homes as security and receive lifelong pensions. With the offering of these latest services, KHFC completed the framework for a lifetime financial system, ranging from housing guarantees and mortgage loans for the middle-aged, to reverse mortgages for senior citizens.
Through its four major business areas, long-term mortage loans, housing credit guarantees, reverse mortgages and the issuance of securitized bonds, KHFC will fulfill its role both in name and reality as a lifetime financial partner to citizens throughout their lives. nw
