A shareholders'meeting approves his selection


SThe Korea Shipowners?Association has selected Lee Jong-chul, vice chairman of STX Pan Ocean, as its chairman, a job that had been vacant for a long period of time.
The selection of the new KSA chairman was approved during an extraordinary meeting of KSA members convened on March 24.
Lee has been credited with playing an important role in overcoming the severe sluggishness in the shipping industry in Korea and abroad as an executive of STX Pan Ocean in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis. He was praised for having established a new dispute-free labor-management relation culture while heading the KSA? maritime labor committee and concurrently serving as KSA vice chairman.
The KSA, founded on June 20, 1960, is a nationwide organization of owners and operators of the vessels engaged in ocean transportation. nw
