Electricity Industry Pledges to Ensure Safety at Nuclear Power Units

The KEA hosts the 46th anniversary of Electricity Day; 54 people receive diverse prizes

Approximately 1,000 people from government, the electricity industry and academic circles attended the 46th anniversary of Electricity Day at the Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) headquarters in Samseong-dong, Seoul, on April 8.
Among those on hand at the anniversary ceremony organized by the Korea Electric Association (KEA), were Vice Minister of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) Park Young-june and KEA Chairman Kim Ssang-su, concurrently KEPCO chairman and CEO.
The top honor, the Order of Industrial Merit, Gold Tower, went to Choi Sung-jae, president of YongSung Electric Co. in recognition of his company's contribution to the development of the Korean industrial automatic control equipment field. YongSung has been credited with devoting itself to localizing industrial automatic control equipment for the past 30 years and for supplying automatic control equipment to the domestic nuclear power industry, substituting 31 billion won worth of imports annually.
Hur Yeup, a division chief of KEPCO, was presented with the Order of Industrial Merit, Silver Tower, for having successfully completed a project to elevate the voltage of the power grid to 220V, while Sam Heung President Choo Chang-hyun was honored with the Order of Industrial Merit, Bronze Tower, for his meritorious role in improving the environment of the electricity business sector.
The order winners were among the 54 people who were awarded government orders, medals, presidential citations and other prizes. nw
