Accelerates its bid to expand business environs abroad and secure new growth engines
KPS (Korea Plant Service & Engineering) is devoting itself to becoming a world-class power plant maintenance company by continuously ramping up its competitiveness and swiftly coping with an ever-changing market and customers¡¯ demands.
In an effort to maintain growth this year, KPS has come up with four major strategies ¡ª the pursuit of continuous growth in the existing businesses; the expansion of a future growth foundation; the securing of global competitiveness; and the building of efficient management systems.
First, KPS plans to focus on profit-making so as to maintain continuous growth in the existing business arenas. It is redoubling efforts to create differentiated services and provide faultless maintenance.
Second, KPS is striving to expand global business horizons abroad and diversify its business portfolios so that a future growth foundation can be secured. Third, KPS is doing its utmost in developing core technologies and upgrading the nurturing of gifted manpower to the standards of advanced countries.
Lastly, KPS plans to ensure performance-based organizational operation and establish a management foundation for sustainable growth. KPS President Tae Sung-eun has implemented the four management tenets ¡ª the pursuit of going global; a focus on customers and markets; the promotion of communication and collaboration; and continuous growth management through its commitment to social responsibility.
In particular, KPS last year declared ¡°Vision 2020,¡± calling for making the company a global business partner leading the green energy service industries. To this end, KPS established ¡°MUV 2013,¡± a mid-term strategic management plan, and designated the top eight core strategic tasks.
As part of its efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of the existing business areas, including hydro & thermal power, nuclear power, and power transmission, KPS is trying to secure price competitiveness by carrying out unit price savings drives in all areas while offering such differentiated, advanced services as performance diagnosis and improvement services and restoration in the shortest period.
In order to expand business horizons abroad, KPS plans to focus on tapping the hydro & thermal power markets in Southeast Asia, India and South America, making inroads into the nuclear power plant market in China, the United States, Japan and Taiwan. KPS plans to take the form of stake investments and joint entries into foreign markets with Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) by capitalizing on its strength, engineering capability.
KPI plans to devote itself to ramping up its inner core capability and developing technology so that the smooth implementation of nuclear power maintenance support automation service, gas turbine parts manufacturing projects and the developing and operating of specialized projects can be done in the mid-term new business areas related to vertical and horizontal business diversification.
Lastly, KPS plans to redouble efforts to ramp up its capability to achieve mid-term goals by establishing strategically-oriented action regimes through reorganization, the strengthening of business processes and strategic R&D investments. nw
