Farnese Winemaker’s Dinner at Il Ponte

Il Ponte, Millennium Seoul Hilton’s popular Italian trattoria, is pleased to offer a special Winemaker’s Dinner on Friday, March 4th. To be featured are wines from the renowned Italian Farnese Winery. The wines will be marvellously accompanied by a seven-course dinner designed to enhance the flavours of the wines.
Typically, wines are chosen to accompany a specially designed menu, with the purpose of bringing out the flavors of the food. For a winemaker’s dinner, however, the spotlight rests on the wines; the gourmet menu is carefully selected to showcase the spectacular nature of the wines. The wines to be featured at this extraordinary dinner include the 2009 Casale Vecchio Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC, the 2006 Opi Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Reserva DOCG and the 2007 Edizione VDT. Chef Anita Bidini will feature dishes to complement these wines including: Fresh Halibut Carpaccio with Orange, Sweet Ginger and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Dressing; Risotto with Dry Porcini Mushrooms and Shrimps flavoured with Saffron; and Roasted Rack of Lamb with Red Wine and Black Olive Sauce and Vegetable Ratatouille.
The evening promises to be a memorable event, introducing new flavors and combinations to even the most sophisticated palates.
The Farnese Winery got its roots in 1582 when Princess Margherita of Austria, wife of Ottavio Farnese, decided to purchase the town of Ortono, which she made her last home, providing the viticultural activities of this ancient wine country with vital impetus and scope. The vineyards soon flourished in European royal courts. Almost four and a half centuries later, the Farnese name is regarded as a premium brand all over the world.
The Winemaker’s Dinner will be preceded by a champagne reception at 7 p.m. The dinner is priced at KW100,000++ (includes the champagne reception, dinner and paired wines). Advanced reservations are highly recommended.
