Job Fair for Int¡¯l Financial Institutions

Will bring together some executives of 7 international financial institutions

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF) said the 2nd Job Fair for International Financial Institutions will take place at Seoul National University on Dec. 12-13.
The job fair will bring together about 20 vice presidents in charge of personnel affairs from seven international financial institutions ¡ª the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) said Lee Kang-ho, director of international institutions at the MOSF¡¯s International Financing Bureau. The participants will include Vice President Bindu N. Lohani of the ADB, Vice President of Kordje Bedoumna of the AfDB, and Executive Director Van Haute of OECD.
The job fair is designed to help Korean land jobs at the international financial institutions in keeping with Korea¡¯s rising international standing following a rise in Korea¡¯s quota in the WB and IMF and the nation¡¯s playing the host of the G20 Seoul Summit 2010, he said. Korea saw its quota in the IMF rising from 1.35 percent to 1.41 percent in April 2008 and to 1.80 percent in November 2010 while the World Bank is to approve a quota change that will allow Korea to have its quota increasing from 1.00 percent to 1.63 percent.
Korean Amb. to OECD Hur Kyung-uk wook will preside over the High-level Conference for Human resources Development at Session I in the morning of Dec. 12 at the Seoul National University Headquarters Grand Hall. The participating vice presidents of the international financial institutions (IFIs) will discuss ways of helping emerging economies exporting human resources to IFIs.
The participants of the IFIs will make a joint presentation during Session II.
Each of the seven IFIs will hold an in-depth session on hiring of employees during Session III and have interviews with applicants.
AfDB and other IFIs will continue to have interviews at the Day 2 sessions.
IMF, EBRD, AfDB, ADB and OECD will have interviews to hire regular employees. EBRD and AfDB will also hold interview sessions to intern applicants with a period ranging from three months to one year. nw
