For Creation of Green Energy, Economy
30th Green Energy Exhibition does it all to provide info on the effective use of energy, creation of green economy
The 30th Grand Korea Green Energy Exhibition took place from Oct. 13-16 at COEX in southern Seoul, hosted by Korea Energy Management Corp. The aim of the event was to demonstrate ways to further escalate the effective use of energy, explain what is meant by new recycled energy, and at the same time to point to the future of the green industry in support of products put on display by companies in a bid to solidify the image of green business, officials of the host company said.
Over 250 domestic companies operated more than 1,000 booths to display and promote their products as well as their company brands.
CEO Lee Tae-young of Korea Energy Management Corp. said the exhibition, which has been ongoing for 30 years, has been of great help in showing changing global trends in technology and new high-tech energy technologies to domestic firms so that they can further develop.
Lee said the energy management company will do its best to support the government policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2020 and help the companies engaged in the sector by setting up an ESCO Hall to teach them how to effectively run projects to upgrade the use of energy in the most effective ways and display various technologies and information.
The CEO said the government has been trying to help provide new technologies for new recycled energy and energy saving, but opportunities to learn about those technologies have been scarce. The green energy exhibition is a rare chance to help the government spread those technologies in Korea.
For 30 years, the annual event has helped to reinvigorate the energy industry at home and has contributed to the exchange of technologies for energy savings in addition to the facilitation of various consultancies for private energy firms in Korea, Lee said.
Today, for many countries in the world, energy efficiency has been taken as the best means to not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but to also save energy, particularly in terms of lower costs and environmental concerns. Korea, too, has been working to upgrade its effective use of energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
A key event at the green energy exhibition is the ESCO Hall with a main theme of ¡°ESCO business¡± for the many firms participating in an attempt to secure the latest technology and trends and consultations in the ESCO business areas. The hall also created a special room to show off environmentally friendly new lighting equipment including LED, a new growth engine for the Korean economy. The hall also displayed heat resistant materials, power breakers and others needed as part of a total solution for energy-saving buildings, along with products such as heat recovery equipment and heat lamps, and others to upgrade the effective use of energy in the areas of commerce and industry, the CEO explained.
It is hoped, Lee said, that the viewers will find ways to realize green growth through the development of the green energy industry and low-carbon economic growth by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and upgrading energy effectiveness through discussions on policies, export consultations and technology seminars at the event.
Organizers at this year¡¯s event will donate money collected from the 30 participating countries to charity organizations for children. The exhibit had a special corner for the ¡°love-sharing campaign¡± as a special event for the opening of the exhibition. The donated funds will go to buy coal briquettes and warm clothes, and make study rooms at children¡¯s charity centers around the country. The organizers of the exhibition decided to purchase coal briquettes instead of wreaths to help arouse attention for the poor families in the country.
The public relations department of the energy management company managed a corner for job seekers by providing job information so that the event will lead the job-sharing campaign as well.
The Green Conference during the event provided various information on climate change and the effective use of energy, divided into 29 large sessions and 109 sub-sessions providing the latest information on technology. nw
