Picked as Energy Provider to Dongtan City

Korea District Heating Corp. to become integrated energy and heat provider by adding recycled energy biz

President Chung Seung-il of Korea District Heating Corp. said the company has been chosen recently to be a collective energy provider to the second district of Dongtan City over its competitors.
He held out such matters as relation to the first district of the city in business, energy effect and environment as advantages for Korea Heating having been chosen as the energy business provider. This will enable the heating company to build a network of its environment friendly energy belt linking Paju, pangyo, Gwangkyo, and Samsong as part of its Seoul environment-friendly energy network.
President Chung, since his arrival at the company in 2008, has been given credit for wisely solving a number of critical problems that faced the company including the listing of the company on the stock exchange, the sale of affiliates, reducing the scale of the company, reductions of salaries and job sharing.
Chung had a tough time winning the bid to supply heat and energy to the second district of Dongtan as he had to beat out private business rivals.
He has now been focusing his energy on the development of recycled and renewable energy. He said the company set up a solar power plant in Daegu and is operating a solar power facility on top of the roof of the company¡¯s branch office in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, and has been generating energy from gas created from garbage dumps and using other waste materials to create recycled energy.
What Chung hates the most is wasting energy and he has been directing the company to save energy at whatever means. Heat not used in summer is stored in heat distribution pipes and used in district heating. Since his arrival at the company, it has been successfully distributing coolers that eliminate humidity in the air as well.
The CEO said, ¡°We plan to make the company an integrated energy company by adding the energy recycling business, in addition to heat and cooler distribution, in the future.¡±
Established in November 1985, we strive to conduct the district heating business efficiently, save energy and improve environments, and promote public benefits and convenience. Over the past 24 years, we have been able to develop into the world¡¯s largest district heating energy provider, as we have endeavored to make efficient use of energy and improve atmospheric environments, thus contributing greatly to the nation¡¯s economy.
Korea District Heating has provided affordable, convenient, comfortable district heating energy, thereby acquiring the unwavering support of customers.
The company is committed to pursuing new district heating businesses and to diversifying into the electricity business and the new and renewable energy business, with the goal of providing district cooling and heating services to 2 million households nationwide by 2015 and generating annual sales of 2.6 trillion won, the company said.
The company thus aims to become a first-class total energy provider, and will take its social responsibility as a public corporation seriously so as to endear Korea District Heating to consumers and become a user-friendly energy provider. nw
