WIS 2010: A Chance to Peek into Future of IT World
Over 500 exhibitors from 18 countries display their latest gadgets and technologies
World IT Show 2010 (WIS 2010) will serve as an opportunity to peek into what the future of IT convergence will look like. More than 500 exhibitors from 18 countries are participating in WIS 2010, which gets under way at COEX in Seoul from May 25-28. Among the exhibitors are Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and other Korean leaders as well as 50 foreign concerns including HP and Qualcomm who will demonstrate their latest products and technologies in such IT convergence areas as energy, automobiles, robots and medical sectors and software, content and solutions categories.
Spectators may have a good opportunity to take a look at what the future of the IT industry will look like, as the exhibition will also display state-of-the-art gadgets and components and advanced technologies in the digital home appliance product area including home digital, mobile devices and next-generation PCs; the broadcasting and communications field including internet, network, next-generation mobile telecommunications and next-generation broadcasting; and the electronics equipment area comprising displays and semiconductors.
WIS 2010, being held under the theme ¡°Feel IT, See the Next,¡± arranges for more opportunities to see public demonstrations and experience the exhibits. Bloggers and interested company officials will be invited to participate in sessions to introduce new technologies and have one-on-one business meetings.
The fair is hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE), Korea Communications Commission (KCC) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and was organized by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), COEX and the Korea Association of Information & Telecommunication (KAIT).
The exhibition coincides with the World Information & Communications Summit (WICS), FTTH Council Asia Pacific Annual Conference & Exhibition, the World IT Show Business Meetings, World IT Show Business Forum, the Technology Communication Seminar, the Information Technology Research Center Workshop, the Global Investment Promotion Seminar, and Hi-Tech Technomart on the Wireless Convergence and Intelligent Robot Fields.
WIS 2010 is the first-ever exhibition in Korea to be fitted with a Wi-Fi mobile telecom network, so that spectators, bloggers and journalists can freely access mobile internet services. They can report the scene of the exhibition via netbooks and smart phones as well as post on Twitter and blogs and provide live webcasts.
KAIT Chairman Jung Man-won said, ¡°WIS 2010 is Korea¡¯s third and biggest IT exhibition by combining seven IT-related fairs, including SEK, IT-KOREA, KIECO and EXPO COMM, that had been held separately since 2008.¡± He added that 550 exhibitors from Korean and foreign IT industries have installed about 1,400 booths and the exhibition is expected to attract about 60,000 spectators.
¡°The IT industry shows signs of dynamic advancement every year. Not only the original technologies that serve as the seeds of IT and other industries that have evolved dramatically, but also very sensitive trends emerging from convergence of the whole of industries will be highlighted anew,¡± he said. ¡°To name a few recent hit products, smart phones, 3D TV, Google¡¯s 1GB home optical cable, and other of the latest products and technologies are expected to attract global attention.¡±nw
