KPS announces its Vision 2020 for becoming a world-class company
















Korea Plant Service & Engineering (KPS) has unveiled its Vision 2020 calling for making KPS a super world-class company. KPS President Kwon Oh-hyung, executives, chiefs of divisions and heads of regional headquarters assembled at the KPS head office in Bundang, south of Seoul, on March 5 for a ceremony marking the declaration of the vision.
At the ceremony, KPS also announced its top four mid- and long-term strategies ¡ª strengthening the competitiveness of the existing businesses, ramping up globalization, diversifying business arenas vertically and horizontally and establishing enabling regimes ¡ª in a bid to evolve into a super world-class company by raising revenues and the portion of overseas businesses by 2020.
KPS CEO Kwon said in his speech at the ceremony, ¡°We¡¯ll make flat-out efforts for realizing the new vision under the catchphrases, Global Leading Business Partner and Green Energy Management.¡±
Kwon urged his executives and staff members to join forces in ushering in an era of KPS¡¯s resurgence, saying, ¡°We can build a different future according to how we brace for it with an insight.¡±
Following the declaration of the vision, KPS labor and management pledged their ethical management and ensuring an ethical culture and awareness toward safety by reading a statement pledging no safety accidents or industrial disasters.
Chiefs of businesses across the country got together for a managers¡¯ workshop and discussed pending issues according to their division in order to raise managers¡¯ roles and response capabilities so that the advancement of management can be achieved.
KPS Holds Shareholders¡¯ General Meeting
KPS held its 26th shareholders¡¯ general meeting at the KPS head office on March 19.
KPS CEO Kwon Oh-hyung said in his speech, ¡°Despite business uncertainties, KPS will throw its heart and soul into ramping up the capability to meet customers¡¯ needs and its competitive edge in the overseas business, and to this end, we plan to implement our five top management goals: advancing management systems, expanding the foundation for future growth, securing technological competitiveness, upgrading human resources development and maximizing corporate values.¡±
KPS devoted itself to fortifying its presence in the existing maintenance market by spearheading corporate value, creating growth engines and focusing on field management while aggressively exploring foreign markets. KPS¡¯s efforts to explore overseas businesses paid off: in 2009 the company landed 200 billion won worth of overseas orders.
KPS contributed to enhancing power generation facilities¡¯ factor ratios as it logged no shutdown accidents for the fifth consecutive year and fully realized its target to win orders on preventive maintenance. It also poured 36.2 billion won into R&D outlays for stepping up its technological competitiveness and submitted applications for 124 intellectual property rights.
In 2009 KPS posted remarkable achievements by posting 805.2 billion won in sales, 110.1 billion won in operating income and 96.3 billion won in net income despite business uncertainties. Riding on its growth and soundness potential, KPS saw its corporate value surge from 1.125 trillion won in late 2008 to 1.917 trillion won in late 2009. nw
