High-1 Resort in Full Bloom
Recent heavy snow fall attracts skiers at home and overseas to its slopes overcrowding facilities
Developed in Sabukeup and Gohaneup, Jeongseongun in South Korea and opened in December 2006, ¡°High1¡± ski resort features over 21km of slopes within a 4,986,775§³ area. The ski grounds include 403 rooms in the resort hotel, two ski houses, two resting areas, and an observatory at the top of the mountain. There are 18 slopes in High1 resort. All of the slopes are at least 1.5km in length, while the longest slope stretches for 4.2km. The average width of the slopes is 40m, which is almost the same width as 10 lanes in a motor way. Among these slopes, 11 received international authorization from FIS.
High1 was admitted as a globally scaled ski location, with three slopes officially authorized to be used for the World Cup Ski Competition. Furthermore, High1 contains special slopes and facilities for disabled patrons. In 2008, the High1 ski resort hosted over 100 athletes from 13 countries who participated in the IPC international World Cup for the disabled.
High1 - Ski, the World Project: High1 cooperates with the world famous APPI (A Japanese¡¯s Ski Ground). High1 Ski Ground entered into relations with the famous world ski grounds and started progress on a project with them through collaborated brands and marketing. High1 will have its first promotion with Japan¡¯s ¡¯APPI Ski Ground¡¯ this season. As this is the beginning point, High1 will develop the slogan of ¡¯Hold the world through the ski¡¯ with the United States, New Zealand, and Austria
At the top of Victoria Peak is the Valley Top where the valley begins. It offers a beautiful open view of the surrounding mountains and the steep slope running down through the Hera Zone and the FIS-standard Apollo Zone.
At Valley Top, which offers a clear view of almost all the slopes at the High1 Ski Resort, a patrol station has been established for our guests¡¯ safetyHigh1 Hotel has a wide range of guestrooms and suites, ranging from affordable yet luxurious Standard Rooms to the widely praised Presidential Rooms. Apart from high-end bistros where visitors can enjoy excellent cuisine from around the world, fusion restaurants, buffet restaurants, a casino bar, and a high-class lounge, there also are a large banquet hall, small banquet halls for family events, a swimming pool and a sauna to help you relax mind and body and add more flavor to your vacation, and a business center was once a mining village before golf courses and ski slopes were built, and now there are many tourist sights, restaurants, and entertainment facilities in the area.
The roads that were used to transport coals were turned into hiking paths, and slopes are planted with wild flowers. There is also an amusement ride called the ¡¯Cool Rider¡¯ for summer, making the place a year round resort. Also, a movie set called ¡°Unamjeong Pavilion¡± for the TV drama ¡°Sikgaek¡± will be remodeled to become a traditional Korean restaurant for visitors. The construction of a new concept hotel with a convention center in it will be completed around 2010 along with a condominium complex. A large indoor water park and a number of amusement rides will be added to make the place a true year round resort.
Kangwon Land became the first resort in Asia to host the ¡°2012 FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) Congress¡±. It was also voted the ¡°Most Recommended Ski Resort¡± and ¡°The Most Popular Ski Resort to Visit¡±. In short, it¡¯s earning the reputation as a great resort company in Korea and overseas.
More than four million people come to High 1 Resort every year, and the company¡¯s goal is to become the final destination for tourists in Korea. In the process, it will contribute to boosting both national and local economies, and become one of the most respected companies by serving the society.
