New Year Reception for Construction Industry

Over1,000 construction industry leaders, legislators and related government officials led by P.M. Chung Un-chan exchange greetings

The Korean Federation of Construction Industry Societies held a New Year ceremony for the construction industry on Jan 7 at Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul in which some 1,000 industry executives and related government ministers led by Prime Minister Chung Un-chan and legislators attended to welcome the New Year.
Prime Minister Chung in his congratulatory speech, said if we can achieve a green miracle as we broke out of poverty through the miracle of the Han River, we can open a broad road for our entry to be an advanced country in the world. The construction industry, too, should explore a blue ocean with new green construction technologies.
The prime minister went on to add that if the construction industry leads the low-carbon green growth industry, it would be able to expand its overseas construction market by making it a new growth engine as the construction that every one of you here work for is the same as a living matter.
Chairman Kwon Hong-sa, in his speech, said the construction industry in the past 60 years played a major role in the development of Korea as a economically big country by recreating the country and we have to renew our determination on this occasion to build a bigger Korea with passion and challenging spirit that only construction people can have.
Every construction people at the event agreed that they should to their best to overcome various economic difficulties that to face the construction industry this year with change and reform wisely. They also swore that they will work hard to root out corruption and other unjust practices in the industry and develop large-scale projects for the future growth of the industry and focus its capacities heavily on diversification of overseas construction market to create new demand.
They also agreed that nothing will stand in the way of the Four Rivers Restoration Project and make sure that the construction industry would lead the green growth industry which is a new growth engine and a global vision.
Chairman Kwon is also president of the Construction Association of Korea(CAK).
The main purposes of its establishment of CAK are to maintain the prestige of the construction contractors, to promote mutual cooperation amongst contractors, to protect their rights and interests, and to strive for the improvement of construction-related legislations, construction economy policy and construction technology, thus to contribute towards sound progress and development of the nation’s construction industry. nw
