KFAA announces the winners of the 2009 Korea Advertising Awards
The 2009 Korea Advertising Awards Grand Prix went to Cheil¡¯s corporate public relations advertisement series for Wongjin Coway ¡°Sihu Documentation Campaign¡± on Nov. 3 and Korea¡¯s figure skating superstar Kim Yu-na was named the 2009 Model of Advertising.
In his commemorative speech at the 2009 Korea Advertising Rally, 2nd Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Dae-ki said, ¡°A variety of restrictions will be found out and overhauled so that creativity in advertising can bloom.¡±
Hong Suk-kyu, chairman of Phoenix Communications Inc., who was honored with the Order of Industrial Service, Silver Tower, was among the 16 people who were presented with diverse orders and other awards in recognition of their contribution to the development of the Korean advertising industry and the enhancement of the quality of advertisements. Kwon Oh-hyung, chief of the SK Brand Management Division, was decorated with the Industrial Service Medal. Hong Chan-shik, former managing director of Joongang Daily News and Nam Sang-min, senior staffer at Cheil, received the presidential award, while Kim Jae-hoon, vice president of Ad+Rich, Oh Myung-yul, vice president of HS Aid, and Kang Yong-gwan, president of Open System, were each presented with the Prime Minister¡¯s Award.
Other winners of the 2009 Korea Advertising Awards were Creative Air, which won the Gold Award in the TV sector for producing an advertisement for Samjin Pharm, titled ¡°Children Get Excited Easily¡±; Komaco was presented with the Gold Award in the newspaper category for an advertisement for Pyungan Textile; Creative Air won the Gold Award in the radio category for producing an advertisement for Donghwa Pharm; HS Ad was honored with the Gold Award in the magazine category for producing an advertisement titled ¡°Milano Print Business¡± for Korean Air; and D. Tribe was presented with the Gold Award in the Internet category.
Earlier on the same day, the International Advertising Conference, the side event of the 2009 Advertising Rally, took place under the theme ¡°The present and future of a New Type of Broadcasting Advertising.¡±
Kim In-kyu, chairman of the Korea Digital Media Industry Association delivered a keynote speech, titled ¡°New Start! New Paradigm!¡± He spoke about the mega-trend of the future media industry following a combination of broadcasting and communications. He touched on advertising people¡¯s new mindset and the future vision of the media industry.
The speaker of Session 1, ¡°Big Bang! Catch the New Wave!¡± was Rick Sizemore, president, founder and chief strategy officer at MultiMedia Intelligence, who spoke about the arrival of revolutionary interactive advertising. He predicted that the global technology will have an impact on the advertising industry in an era of combining broadcasting and communications. nw
