The 17th ITS World Congress, Busan, one of the world¡¯s largest intelligent transport systems (ITS) seminar and exhibition, will be held at BEXCO in Busan under the theme, ¡°Ubiquitous Society with ITS¡± next October.
The ITS World Congress was established in 1994 to help institutions representing Europe, Asia-Pacific and American regions exchange technologies and information on ITS. The venue of the congress, also dubbed ¡°Traffic Olympics,¡± being held every year, rotates according to each continent. In Korea, the 5th ITS World Congress was held in Seoul.
ITS is designed to promote users¡¯ safety and convenience by grafting state-of-the-state technologies and maximize operation and utilization of traffic facilities.
Accordingly, ITS is creating a more convenient and safer traffic environment, and related technologies are being advanced to meet users¡¯ demands. With the development of advanced technologies, traffic of the past has been changing into an ITS-based one. ITS is establishing itself as an essential component for making people¡¯s lives convenient and comfortable.
The 17th ITS World Congress, Busan, slated for next October, will be an occasion to take a look at technologies and information on ITS, the 17th ITS World Congress Organizing Committee (Chairman Lieu Chull-ho) said.
The upcoming ITS World Congress will comprise not only symposiums and an exhibition, but also such diverse side events as opening and closing ceremonies, a technical observation session and cultural experience programs.
True to the theme ¡°Ubiquitous Society with ITS,¡± a seminar will be held under the integrated goal ¡°Safe, Convenient, and Green Mobility and paper concepts- three strategies: ¡°Ubiquity,¡± ¡°Transparency¡± and ¡°Trustability.¡±
In particular, prominent papers will be rewarded to facilitate the presentation of tutorials from Korea and abroad, while registration fees will be exempted and travel awards will be given to participants from the non-OECD nations in order to encourage as many as experts from around the world as possible to participate in the seminar. nw
