Samsung Unveils ¡®New Species, More Inspiration¡¯

Announces the launch of seven new printing devices

At IFA 2009, Samsung has unveiled its new exhibit, ¡°New Species, More Inspiration,¡± to represent the advent of its new species of LED TVs. Compared to other TVs on the market, Samsung LED TV¡¯s offer vast improvements in three distinct areas: picture quality, design and environment impact.
The news exhibit, which showcased the company¡¯s technological leadership and represented its eco-friendly strategy, included a moment of LED TVs called ¡°Digital Leaves,¡± a stream which doubles as the monument¡¯s source of life, and a movie with a unique visual and sound experience.
Upon entry to the booth, guests encountered Digital Leaves, which resembles a flower and depicts the blooming of an LED TV flower. The flower¡¯s pedals, which took 128 LED TVs to build, are covered with white cloth and are reflected in mirrors on the ceiling, making for a marvelous spectacle.
Beneath Digital Leaves is the LED flowing stream,. The stream signifies the gateway to a new world courtesy of Samsung, and that a new species of LED TVS have been born by joining the sources of life: water and light.
The move, entitled ¡°The Birth of New Species,¡± conveys the birth of evolution of the new LED TV species. It is accompanied by Samsung¡¯s mnemonic music which was composed with live strings and recorded specifically for the IFA exhibit. nw

SAMSUNG¡¯S CONVENIENT PRINTING OF WEB PAGES

Samsung Electronics, a leading name in the world of consumer electronics and information technology, on Sept. 4 announced the launch of seven new monochrome laser printing devices at IFA in Berlin. The devices are designed to deliver highly-convenient printing of web pages thanks to Samsung¡¯s unique one-touch ¡®Print Screen¡¯ button and AnyWeb Print software. These features, combined with user-friendly design, make them ideal for personal use in home and small offices.
New one-touch ¡®Print Screen¡¯ button
With the growing popularity of web-based applications and increasing use of the Internet, it¡¯s no surprise that printing online content now represents the second major source of printed documents. In recognition of this trend, SAMSUNG has introduced the one-touch ¡®Print Screen¡¯ button. This provides users with a quick and easy way to print what they see on their PC screen, including multiple web browsers or the windows of different applications. With this feature, users can print exactly what they need, reducing the number of wasted pages traditionally associated with printing from websites, including empty frames, the URL or disclaimers. The ¡®Print Screen¡¯ button is located on the control panel of each device, meaning users do not have to be at their PC to print the information they require. nw

Save resources with AnyWeb Print software
The devices are also compatible with SAMSUNG¡¯s AnyWeb Print software designed to provide similar economical benefits. This allows users to select, drag and drop specific content from web pages into a new, blank page on their PC screen, which they can then save or print. The AnyWeb Print software allows users to print just the information they really need, rather than whole web pages when they only need a small section of each. This function can help users cut down on time as well as resources like paper and toner.
¡°These new printing devices are designed to support the priorities of users in home and small office environments, which increasingly includes conveniently printing from the Internet,¡± said Geoff Slaughter, general manager, UK Print Division, SAMSUNG Electronics. ¡°We¡¯re continually looking to improve the ease of use and productivity of our printers, and the new features of these devices do exactly that.¡± nw

Improved design
The new devices also feature a streamlined design, with several user benefits including:
* Enclosed paper tray to keep paper dust free and clean and helping guarantee reliable, high-quality prints
* Cover on the output tray contributes to minimize noise
* Power button on the control panel, making it easier to turn the device on and off

The SCX-4600, SCX-4623F and SCX-4623FN monochrome laser MFPs offer print speeds of up to 22 pages per minute (ppm), as well as a fast first page out time of less than 10 seconds. The fax functionality of the SCX-4623F and SCX-4623FN also provides a convenient solution for users that still require fax capabilities. These devices feature fax to PC, sending fax data straight to the user¡¯s PC. Similarly, a PC application converts document files to images and enables users to send these using the fax connection meaning users avoid the need to print documents in order to fax and ultimately reducing paper, toner and energy consumption. nw
