Attracting More Tourists to Incheon

ITO Boss Choi enunciates his policy goals to lure more tourists to the city and surrounding areas

President Choi Jae-geun of the Incheon Tourism Organization said ITO has lots of things to do as the environment of tourism industry went through more rapid changes than we imagined. And, it is moving ITO a great progress, a progress that we can not even predict.
First, ITO should strengthen the competitiveness of inbound tourism, local tourism, not only to survive from the swift growth of world tourism, but to win over intense fights for market shares.
Second, ITO should systematically develop the domestic tourism industry, which could respond to the requests of 5-working day workers. Third, ITO should lay out plans for the labor intensive tourism industry, which could without a doubt be an alternate to overcome the low growth without job creation. Last but foremost, ITO should promote Incheon's vision, being the hub of Northeast Asia, and make every effort to realize the vision.
President Choi said Incheon is open to the possibility for the infinite and potential growth in making itself the world best tourist city through using geological advantages, exploiting natural resources and building up high-tech new towns.

Incheon has lots of tourist attractions both inside and in surrounding areas: Mt. Wolmi is the historical place where U.S. and allied forces made the landing during the Korean War(1950-53). The area was forbidden to civilians until 2001, changing into a historical, cultural and biological park in the 50 years unseen to civilians.
Mt. Wolmi has magnificent surroundings such as a port, rock and islets which can be seen at one place. A rich forest was formed in the area since not many people visited the mountain except some military soldiers with many cherry blossom trees, pine trees, oak trees, zelkova trees, alder trees, cypresses, Korean rosedays, and Korean forsythias.

What makes Mt. Wolmi to mount climbers is the observatory on top of the hill, which commands a tremendous view of the surrounding areas of Incheon with its walls built with glasses. One can see the entire Incheon city at a glance including the port with all kinds of ships, Jayu Park, and at night, visitors can enjoy beautiful lights formed by a special lighting facility which radiates light from inside the observatory to the outside.
China Town is another exotic famous site in Incheon. Located in Bookseung-dong, Seon and Seolin-dong of Incheon, the area known as the home of Korean Jajangmyun, a Chinese style spaghetti and the original Chinese cuisine in Korea. Visitors will see many Chinese restaurants and many shops selling Chinese gift items in the district making visitors feel like they are somewhere in China. nw
