Samsung Displays Latest Products, Tech at CTIA

Unveils advanced gadgets, including full-touchscreen handsets and next-generation mobile telecom technologies

Samsung Electronics showcased diverse products and the latest telecommunications technologies including full-touchscreen handset lines for the top four U.S. telecommunications providers at CTIA, the wireless industry's biggest U.S. trade show, held in Las Vegas from April 1-3.
The Korean electronics maker became an exhibitor at the annual trade show, Cellular Telecommunication Industry Association (CTIA), and installed a pavilion with as much as 835 sq. meters of floor space under the theme "Touch for Every Lifestyle." Samsung unveiled a variety of full-touchscreen handsets that are to be put on the market via the top four U.S. telecommunications providers -- AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile.
The Korean electronics giant introduced "Impression," a premium full-touchscreen messaging handset with a horizontal Qwerty keypad. The Impression, set to make its debut in early April, is furnished with such diverse features as a 3.2-inch AMOLED (active matrix organic light emitting diode) LCD (liquid crystal display), a 3-megapixel camera and Bluetooth connectivity.
Noteworthy was "Instinct-S30," the next-generation model of the full-touchscreen handset, which made a splash on the American market.
Those exhibits on display also included "Memoir,"a full-touchscreen handset with an 8 megapixel camera that is all the rage on the American market, "Behold," "Eternity," "Ultratouch" and other global touchscreen phones.
True to the theme "The Blue Earth Dream" under the eco-friendly cause of Samsung Electronics, a separate corner, dubbed "Eco," was established to display such handsets as "Blue Earth," a solar powered phone.
"Samsung LPS," a handset offering GPS services; "Sharepix," a phone that can upload pictures and images taken via handsets with ease; "Samsung Live" for sharing contents between PCs and handsets; "Samsung Mobile Innovater," Samsung's handset application developer site; and other diverse mobile solution technologies were also demonstrated at the trade show.
NEXT-GENERATION MOBILE WIMAX TECHNOLOGIES
CTIA was a venue for Samsung Electronics to display mobile WiMAX, mobile broadband, Long Term Evolution (LTE) and other next-generation telecommunications technologies.
Samsung Electronics aims to strengthen its presence in the mobile WiMAX area in the United States, which is expected to be commercialized with base stations and handset lineups and expand into the mobile WiMAX markets in Central and South America.
At the trade show, Samsung Electronics demonstrated a variety of mobile WiMAX services linked to large-capacity base stations for areas with a high-density population, mobile WiMAX phones and other gadgets.
Samsung Electronics also displayed handsets and services of LTE, emerging as a next-generation telecommunications technology in a move designed to establish itself as a leader in next-generation technologies. nw
