Hankook Chinaware Wins KS Certificate Grand Prize

Dinnerware maker cited for quality renovation to make its products well-known around the world

President President Kim Young-shin of Hankook Chinaware Co. won the KS Certificate Grand Prize(Ministerial Citation) in the area of the quality renovation this year, confirming again the pottery maker is on the same level as global first-class dinnerware makers in the world. The company, launched in 1943 in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, now exports its chinaware to over 60 countries around the world, shining its chinaware brand.
The tableware maker is also a top seller of chinaware in its home country, beating the foreign rivals in terms of brand name value and market share.
In particular, the company has been known for a large content of bone ash in its products at more than 50 percent in its top-class bone china products, up from 30 percent standard content internationally.
The company's chinaware products not only won the U.S. FDA approval as hygienic products and the SF mark from Korea Consumer Science Research Center. The company also won for the first time in the country the KS Certificate for a super strong product as a result of the entire company waging quality management campaign.
The company's ceaseless R&D effort in the development of tableware paid off in the production of dinnerware without lead content and the company also succeeded in producing chinaware with silver content, which is germ-resistant as the company continues to work for technology innovation and improved environment.
The company also takes an immense pride in the automation of its production system including the furnaces both electric and LNG-burning ones, with its production facilities equipped with high-tech equipment, which the company feels a top-class in the world.
Through such quality and technology innovations, the company got great results in such areas as the production of environmentally-friendly products with no lead and germ-resistant contents.
