Qatar Petroleum keen on keeping environment clean and safety of oil, gas industry
Qatar Petroleum is one of the largest oil companies in the world as it takes care of all phases of oil and gas industry in the Middle East country established in 1974, Ali Ahmed Al-Suwaidi, Conference and Exhibition Coordinator of Public Relations Department of Qatar Petroleum said.
The major activities of Qatar Petroleum and its subsidiaries and joint ventures cover wide-ranging areas of the petroleum industry from exploration, drilling and production operations, transport, storage marketing and sale of crude oil, natural gas, gas-to-liquids, refined products, petrochemicals and fertilizers and providing helicopter services.
Qatar Petroleum's strategy of conducting hydrocarbon exploration and new projects is through Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements(EPSA) and Development and Production sharing Agreements (DPSA) concluded with major international oil and gas companies.
The company's operations and activities are conducted on various onshore locations, which include Doha, Dukhan, Mesaieed and Ras Laffan Industrial Cities, as well as offshore areas including Halul Island, Offshore Production Stations, Drilling Platforms and the North Gas Field.
In addition to its operations, QP carries out its activities through its subsidiaries, joint ventures and other investments.

QP produces crude oil, associated gas, condensate and non-associated gas from the onshore Dukhan field. Dukhan crude is of high quality with an API specific gravity of 40 degrees and sulfur content of 1`.5 percent.
QP's North Field is considered to be the largest single non-associated gas reservoir in the world, covering an area of 6,000 square kilometers.
Dukhan City located 84 km west of Doha, shipped the first of its oil shipments on Dec. 31, 1949 through Mesaieed port terminal. The city now accommodates oil and gas facilities, housing, medical, recreational and educational institutions and related services.
Halul Island is a storage and export terminal for Qatar's offshore oil. The island located around 80 km northeast of Dohan with an area of 1.5 square km is home to 11 giant oil tanks that can accommodate more than 5 million barrels of crude oil.
QP's strategy of conducting hydrocarbon and new development is through Production sharing Agreements (EPSA) and Development and Production Sharing Agreements(DPSA) with the following major international oil and gas companies: Exxomobil, Anadarko Qatar, Maersk Oil Qatar, Talisman Energy Qatar, Wintershall Consortium and Marubeni. nw
