Builder takes huge pride in taking part in building SOC projects at home and abroad
Daelim Industrial Co. is honored and very grateful that it has been picked as one of the builders of the Sin-Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit No. 1. The company has been engaged in a wide range of the construction of key national industrial projects including major plants, buildings and expressways in the country during the six decades of its operation. During the period, the company as a leading builder in the country has built up a solid record in undertaking building of huge industrial projects overseas, in the Middle East in particular and southeast Asia. The company feels that it is more than qualified to undertake the project taking advantage of its expertise in undertaking such a key project in the past.
This year is the company's 59th year of operation and targets to generate 16.15 trillion won in sales and operating profit of 902 billion won. The company's sales last year amounted to 14.5 trillion won and operating profit 930 billion won.
Chairman Lee Yong-koo announced the target at the Daelim Group's "Jeju Forum"held every year in January to map out the vision and operation strategies for the new year on Jeju Island this year at Jeju Grand Hotel. Chairman Lee is also chairman of the Contractors Association of Korea whose membership is made of all Korean construction companies engaged in overseas construction projects.
In April, the company held a dedication ceremony for the project to expand the oil refining capacity of the Petron in Bataan, the Philippines.
A ceremony has taken place on March 31, to install the nuclear reactor of Sin-Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 at the site in Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, Korea.
The Sin-Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 reactor which has the weight of 350 tons, the inside diameter of 4.1 meters and the height of 14.5 meters is the first improved standard nuclear power reactor completed by home-developed technologies, and it also represents a strategic model for exports to China and Southeast Asia including Vietnam. It boasts of short installation period and outstanding economic feasibility and safety compared to previous standard nuclear power plants. The Sin-Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 with a power generation capacity of 1,000 Mw will be completed by Daelim and other builders in December 2010 and produce electricity of annual average of 8 billion Kwh.
The construction of Unit 1 & 2 is showing an approximately 43% progress now, The Unit 2 will be completed in December 2011
Daelim, ceremony for the completion of FCC Plant 64:
A ceremony for the completion of FCC Plant was held in Bataan, the Philippines on April 9,2008 and a number of important figures celebrated the completion. The figures include President Arroyo of the Philippines, government officials, Alcantara, chairman of Petron, Amb. Hong Jong-Kee in the Philippines, Moohammed Ameen Wali, Saudi Arabian Ambassador in the Philippines, Lee Yong-Koo , chairman of Daelim, and other related persons.
The FCC Plant project was to revamp the facilities of Petron Corporation in Bataan to expand its production capacity of gasoline and diesel fuels and to improve product quality. It also includes the construction of new facilities with an annual production capacity of about 140 thousand tons of propylene for the first time in the Philippines by establishing the PRU (Propylene Recovery Unit) which was adopted up-to-date processes of US-based UOP LLC. Daelim implemented engineering, procurement, construction and support of start up operation.
Particularly, Daelim completed the project two months ahead of schedule, and is also executing the BTX Plant project ordered from the same client, which have contributed to consolidating its leading position in the region.
The company, in the meantime, at home, has been various key projects related to the national industrial base.
Daelim has constructed a number of commercial buildings to lead the modernization of the distribution industry. Some of the related works include Guri Agricultural and Fishery Wholesales Market with the floor space of 50,000-pyeong (165,000m2), Busan Neospo as the biggest early-morning market in Yeongnam, Gyeongju Joseon Hotel with 300 guestrooms, Gyeongju Kolon Hotel with 318 guestrooms, and Daejeon Dongyang Department Store at the center of the commercial district of Daejeon Dunsan Zone, and Busan Base of Gyeongbu KTX.
Daelim Industrial Co. has two main sectors of operation, one construction and the other petrochemical. The company's history traces back to the Bulim Company set up in 1939 and for the ensuing 60 years, the company has been engaged in the construction of various SOC projects, highways, bridges, harbors, and power generation plants, leading the construction of key SOC projects to build the nation's industrial base. nw
