Korea Travel Expo 2008 to be
Held Feb. 27-March 1 at COEX
The Gwangju Metropolitan and Jeollanam-do provincial governments will be guests of honor of the exhibition
Korea Travel Expo 2008 will be held from Feb. 27 through March 1 at the COEX Pacific Hall in order to boost the domestic tourism industry.
About 260 institutions and organizations are expected to participate in the exhibition, which will attract an estimated 100,000 spectators.
The exhibition, the fifth one organized by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), will be held under the catchphrase "Every Nook and Corner, Surprising Korea."The Gwangju Metropolitan Government and Jeollanam-do provincial government, celebrating the "Visit Gwangju and Jeollanam-do Year,"will be the guests of honor of the exhibition. Organizers will beef up activities to publicize the tourism industries of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do.
On the opening day of the exhibition, novelist Kim Ju-yeong, the author of "Bar Proprietor,"and Ham Kwang-bok, president of the DMZ Research Institute, will present lectures.
Korea Travel Expo 2008 will have the Taean Special Publicity Pavilion designed to help the tourism industry of the Taean rural area recover from the effects of a crude oil spill, the Movie & Drama Pavilion for introducing scenic tourist attractions in movies and dramas and the Literature Pavilion.
Students and the elderly aged 65 or older will be allowed in free of charge and entrance fees for the general public will be 2,000 won.
Each municipal and provincial government will offer information on their own unique tourist attractions to capitalize on a rise in the domestic tourism market spurred on by the implementation of the five-day workweek. nw
