High1 Ski, a Magnet
for Winter Sports Fans

Resort comes into its own in terms of size, snow quality and surroundings

High1 Ski, enjoying its second ski season since opening, has established itself as one of the nation's largest magnets for winter-sports fans, as an increasing number of skiers flock to its scenic and breathtaking slopes.
High1 Ski comes into its own in terms of size, snow quality and surroundings. Situated at the foot of the pristine 1,376 meter-high Mt. Baekun, the ski resort celebrates its second season. It covers 4,991,755 sq. meters in area and 947,000 sq. meters in slope area with 18 trails. The total length of skiable slope measures a whopping 21 km. Thanks to the natural features, skiers feel in harmony with nature.
High1 Ski has changed some aspects of its operations since last winter. The first difference is that slopes remain open for as long as 13 hours each day, as late as 10 p.m., without interruption. Last winter, all of the slopes were closed from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for grooming.
Second, skiers can ride the gondola for the 1,243 meter-long distance from Valley Top to Mountain Top, free of charge.

Three more slopes are open during evening hours, bringing to nine the number of slopes available for night skiing.
Thirty emergency phones have been installed along the edges of beginner and intermediate slopes in order to respond swiftly to any accidents or injuries. In addition, the resort boasts 35 snowplows and a total of 5,000 snowboards and pairs of skis.
The ski resort is showing a keen interest in offering services in the interests of skiers. Cho Kisong, CEO of Kangwon Land, said, "We're doing our utmost to make High1 Resort one of Asia's representative full-blown family resorts. High1 Ski Resort is putting our heart and soul into offering best services and facilities to customers."
A separate shelf was installed in the lockers for skiers'belongings. Along the slopes, about 30 places have been set up for beginning and intermediate skiers to rest. The number of ski patrol personnel has risen from 20 to 120, in order to ensure the enjoyment and safety of skiers.
High1 Ski boasts three peaks; Mountain Top with a 1,345 meter altitude, Valley Top, at 1,376 meters, and Mountain Hub, at 1,250 meters. It has 18 trails, ranging from beginner to advanced, approved by the FIS. The longest trail is 4.2 km-long and stretches from Valley Hub to Valley Condominiums, with a drop of 645 meters, which beginners will enjoy with its slow and gentle descent.
The ski resort has a perfect lift system: three eight-seat gondolas, five chair lifts with four to six seats and a 302 meter-long, twin T-Bar, in order to cut down on lift lines.
High1 Ski is the nation's first ski resort to introduce an automatic identification recognition system, so it not necessary for skiers to present tickets. Regular trains take you from Seoul and Busan to Kohan Station at the entrance of the resort, making a trip by train convenient. The 354-seat train makes the round trip from Seoul and Busan once per day until the ski season ends in March.
Looking down from Mountain Top, dubbed "Sky over the Sky,"you will appreciate a breathtaking piece of natural artwork below your feet. Imagine dining on mouth-watering cuisine at the observatory-restaurant, "Top of the Top,"which rotates once every 45 minutes. You will find another world every time you turn your head, making your ski trip a memorable one.
Golf courses become a snow-sledding paradise for children and will remain open until March 4. Children can sled without their parents due to the gentle 25-meter-wide, 100-meter-long slope. After a long day on the slopes, skiers can soak their bodies to beat the fatigue in the open-air hot spa "Haneul Saem"(Sky Well), situated in front of Mountain Condo C Building.
The ski resort is open until April 13. nw
