KOPEC (Korea Power Engineering Company, Inc.), specializing in developing and designing nuclear power plants, will accelerate its efforts to explore new businesses and overseas markets this year.
KOPEC CEO and President Song In-hoe said in his New Year's message, "KOPEC will continue to march toward becoming a world-class company by pursuing continuous management innovation and technology upgrades and providing top-rated technology services to our customers."He went on by saying that his company will strive not only to develop such new projects as PM/CM, new and renewable energy and Operation & Maintenance projects, but will work to obtain original technologies and improve technological capabilities in order to achieve the so-called Dream 2010, its development strategy. The management roadmap calls for the achievement of specific targets: Posting 430 billion won in sales, topping the customer satisfaction survey, raising key technology competitiveness by 15 percent and ranking first in the management performance assessment among power companies.
Looking back at 2007, Song recalled that it was a significant year for KOPEC. He cited that KOPEC established a system for pursuing a creative management strategy by implementing such things as reorganizing his operations in order to build up a responsible management regime, upgrading a performance-based management system, designing a career development system, introducing a long-term management forecasting system and building up an innovative and strategic task management system. The company also declared the launch of a new labor-management culture by holding the "KOPEC Family One Mind Rally 2007."KOPEC also had a winning track record. This past October, the company won the Korea Management Award Technology Innovation Grand Prix from the Korea Management Association Consulting in recognition for making engineering innovations for nuclear power plants through computer integrated engineering (CIE). For its latest feat, KOPEC was awarded the 2007 Labor-Management Culture Grand Prize by the Ministry of Labor on Dec. 17 in recognition for translating amicable labor-management relations into action. nw
