Signs a deal with BOCOG

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. signed an agreement with BOCOG to serve as an official partner of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. The signing ceremony, which was held in Beijing on Nov. 26, was attended by representatives from the China's Disabled Person's Federation, BOCOG, and Samsung China Headquarters.
"Through this support we encourage 90 million disabled Chinese, as well as disabled persons around the world, to join in sporting activities. We hope that we can in some small way make a difference to these people who face adversity,"said Park Keun-hee, President of Samsung Group Greater China Region.
Deng Pufang, the Chairman of China's Disabled Person's Federation, and Wang Wei, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of BOCOG, and Samsung's Mr. Park took part in the signing ceremony that was simultaneously held in sign language. Deng Pufang, known as the "Father of China" Disabled,"signature in the contract demonstrated the will of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad to host a Paralympics that is on part with the Olympics.
Samsung China Headquarters will link the Paralympic Games sponsorship with its community service programs in China such as support for cataract surgery and donations to help the hearing impaired.
The Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games will open in Beijing on September 6 and run through September 17. More than 4,000 athletes from 150 countries and regions are scheduled to take part. Samsung Electronics, with this sponsorship, has the right to use the Paralympics logo, designation and mascot for promotional purposes.
Samsung Electronics began its Paralympics sponsorship from the Torino Paralympic Games in 2006 and has been supporting the International Paralympic Committee since that time as well. This past August, the company renewed its contract with the IPC, securing the rights to use the IPC logo and to sponsor various events organized by the IPC.
Samsung Electronics is already the official Partner in the Wireless Communication Equipment category for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The latest agreement means that Samsung Electronics is now a sponsor of the Olympic Summer Games, Olympic Winter Games, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games nw
