Starting Oct. 28, Asiana Airlines and All Nippon Airways (ANA) will exchange a flight attendant on one of the two Gimpo-Haneda flights with each other as part of the strategic alliance partnership the two airlines have forged.
Officials from Asiana and ANA reached an agreement to exchange flight crews on each other's flight on Oct. 4. The deal followed an earlier agreement to exchange airport officials with each other on Sept. 17.
Under the flight crew exchange program, Asiana and ANA will each have one of the other's flight attendants on one of the existing Gimpo-Haneda flights. To this end, flight crews of the two airlines will be trained on each other's policies regarding safety and service as well as culture. If the initial trial phase is successful, the program will be expanded accordingly.
Asiana Airlines has obtained a 5-Star ranking from the global flight rating agency Skytrax, while the global aviation magazine Air Transport World has named ANA its airline of the year for 2007.
The exchange program is expected to provide an opportunity to help the two airlines share world-class in-flight service and get a better understanding of its neighboring country's customers'needs.
The flight crew exchange program is part of the strategic alliance partnership the presidents of the two airlines forged on Dec. 5, 2006. Under the partnership, both sides have shared diverse companywide programs for the past 11 months in 30 areas ranging from business, flights, airports, in-flight services, purchasing and personnel. In particular, the two airlines agreed on a capital alliance and have purchased a stake in each other's company this past May, thus furthering their close relationships through mutual trust. nw
