A Top-Level Performance

Korea Electrical Safety Corp. given high-level rating in evaluation of government-run firms

Korea Electrical Safety Corp. earned 72.2 points in the government's management evaluation of state-run companies last year, which is considered to belonging to the upper level of the 11 state-run companies in the area of inspection and check-up.
KESCO's major area of operation has been the inspection of electricity installations, check-ups for malfunctioning, and safety under the ESV2010 mid-to-long-term strategies for requiring the company to reset its core functions and to plow manpower and budgets into the major functions. KESCO is considered to have performed its major functions properly and it is also judged proper the company's growth plan for its strategic functions in line with changes in industrial environment.
But the company is required to set up a systematic market situation judgment and long-term strategies in the areas of its businesses which require intense competition with private-sector business and other state-run firms.
Among the businesses launched targeted for customer satisfaction, especially, the inspection service recall system is an excellent idea to upgrade customer service and boosting trust among the public, more so since it was set up under a voluntary search for the system, which in the end helped the company to improve its management result. It is likely to take its root as a realistic and customer-oriented system in the company's operation.
The effort to develop systems to prevent electricity accidents through turning the systems into IT power installation structure and their continued improvement effort should be considered as positive aspects of its operation., along with the rapid response system to make its safety check up management agency work truly a working one, and remote monitoring system through Web method and the effort to constantly to improve the system. It is hoped that by building a detailed improvement plant and collect various experiences of operation and know-how and manage to secure an electricity accident prevention system.
In the area of the company's safety management activities, it shows that the company has gone all out to check and repair the electricity safety system for impoverished families and operate an accident cause investigation system fully with substantial results, especially, its activities to prevent accidents on major installations that will have effects on the sovereign trust.
The publicity area also has shown improvement with the company conducting an effective publicity work on its major operations through diversified public media and having professional research organizations to dissect its publicity work and the evaluation of its publicity project by media. In the future, the company needs to increase the use of the Internet, the information from jobsites as well as improve the language used in the publicity material to make them easy for public to understand.
It is also noteworthy that the company tried to make its educational program diversified and professional and the development of new education courses to strengthen the education of its employees and shortening the period for reeducation for its employees.
But it appears that such education activities have become annual traditional events, no more or no less and therefore, it is recommended that the company set up quantitative target and launch projects accordingly to capture upgrading effects of its education courses.
It also is desirable to plan a joint research of industry, academics, and research in activities of research and study and plans were made to apply the results of the joint research in its business areas, which is considered as a positive move.
President Yang Jae-yol said electricity is an energy source, as every one knows, indispensable for modern society. Not only do we depend on the reliable supply of electricity for our homes and businesses in a daily fashion, but also, entire industries depend on it.
Because of this universal reliance on electricity, advanced industrial societies, where electrical equipment and installations tend to be highly sophisticated and complex, also run a higher risk for electricity safety is becoming a more crucial necessity than ever before.
KESCO is an organization created to protest the lives and properties of consumers, and guarantee safety in workplaces. We perform legal inspections and services on electric installations to prevent accidents and detect potential safety issues and carry out electrical safety-related research, investigation and technology development projects and information campaigns. nw
