Attracts Largest Exhibitors
New-comer exhibitors include Greece. Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Nepal
Spectators of the 20th Korea World Travel Fair has gotten a glimpse into diverse tourism attractions in Korea and abroad. A total of 400 organizations and 460 companies from about 60 countries participated in the fair, held in Seoul between June 7 and June 10, one of the nation's largest exhibitions.
About 500 people in attendance at a tape-cutting ceremony at the venue of the exhibition at COEX Atlantic Hall at 11 a.m. on June 7 included Rep. Jo Bae-suk, chairman of the National Assembly Culture and Tourism Committee, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, and Shin Jong-mok, chairman of Korea Tourism Association,
In particular, it was significant that Greece. Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Nepal become the first participants of the Korea World Trade Fair.
The first Korea World Travel Fair was held in 1986 and the 20th fair came of age to grow as a core of Asia, said Korea Tourism Association Chairman Shin said.
Such programs as worships, national and international travel experiences and mini-concerts of world-class musicians were offered during the travel fair. Korean and international experience halls, travel authority, airline, hotel, duty-free shop and travel agency booths were set up together with six specialized exhibition halls, including domestic and international publicity halls, a world folklore booth and travel item hall.
The Jeju Publicity Booth, set up by the special self-governing provincial government of Jeju, won the Grand Prize in publicity in recognition of publicizing the province's attractive tourism resources. The provincial government offered such diverse programs as a Jeju tourism quiz, a dice game and food and drink tasting that attracted heated attention from spectators.
The Grand Prize in booth management went to the Daejeon Metropolitan City government.
The Busan tourism booth, operated by the Busan Metropolitan government, featured the southernmost port city's tourism attractions,
including Haeundae Beach, Gwangni Beach, Busan cruise tours and Busan city tours and Nurimaru, the venue of 2005 APEC summit talks.
Ha Man-cheol, deputy director of tourism marketing at the Busan Metropolitan government, said visitors to Busan make a fantastic trip via cruise ship or bus. The cruise tour products put on the market include Tiffany 21, a quality cruise tour package with an onboard party and convention. nw
