Doosan Construction & Engineering Co. has changed its name from Doosan Industrial Development Co. to Doosan Construction & Engineering Co. in a shareholders'meeting held in March. The name change signifies that the company will solely be a construction firm professionally, giving away non-construction businesses such as leisure and remicon.
Doosan Construction plans to expand the sales in its civil sector to 496 billion won by 2009 from 299.7 billion won last year and sales in the construction sector to 372.4 billion won from 218.3 billion won.
The construction of Shinbundang Electric Railroad Line, which began in June, 2005, from the Yongsan Railroad Station will link Suwon through Bundang. At the present time, the first stage project is being undertaken linking the Gangnam Station to Jeongja Station in Bundang. The first stage project stretching for 18.5 km at an investment of 1.180,9 trillion won under a BTO model is targeted to be completed in 2010. The investors, a consortium led by Doosan Construction will operate the Shinbundang Line for 30 years and recover the investment and then turn it over to the government. The government will own the line upon its completion in 2010.
The electric line is separate from the line that serves the Seoneung Station on the No.2 Subway Line and the Ori Station on the Bundang Line.
Doosan Construction leads the commerce-residential building market since introducing the We've the State(1,946 units) in Bucheon in April, 2004. In December, 2004, the company supplied We've the Zenith(1,481 units, 52 stories) in Daegu, followed by the We've the Zenith(576 units, 41 stories) in Cheongju, and 48 stories apartment complex in Ulsan.
Doosan Construction will continue to supply landmark type commerce-residential complexes to win market evaluation that the company has been working steadily to keep its name and brand growing. nw
