Dongbu Corporation, the mother company of the Dongbu Group, was established in 1969 and launched its projects in the area of civil engineering to build roads under a plan to expand the nation's weak social overhead capital infrastructure at the start of its economic development.
The company created a myth of success by undertaking large construction projects in Saudi Arabia in the 1970s as a pioneer of Korea's construction industry.
