Auto Design Seminar
KAMA, KIDP co-sponsor the event at Seoul Motor Show April 11
The Korean Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA) jointly with the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) will hold a seminar on car design on April 11th at KINTEX in Ilsan near Seoul on the sidelines of the 6th Seoul Motor Show scheduled to be held April 5-15.
Dubbed the 2007 Seoul Motor Show International Seminar on Car Design,"the event will have such world famous car designers as Pinky Lai, Dale Harrow, and Lowie Vermeersch, among others, as featured speakers in front of some finished car designers with Korean auto companies, car design firms and car design students totaling some 450. The seminar will be held under the theme of "Automobile Design over Ages-Restoration and Future"to show current trends in auto design and the direction of its future development, the association said.
Dale Harrow is dean of the automobile design department of Royal College Art in London, which is a top art and design graduate school in the world and produced many automobile designers. He will speak on the history of automobile design and its future outlook.
Lowie Vermeersch is a senior designer with Pininfarina, a professional auto design firm in Italy, which designed such world famous cars as Ferrari, Fiat, Peugeot, and Lancia, among others. He will speak on sports cars futuristic approach.
Professor Lee Keun of Hongik University is a graduate of Royal College of Art, who will speak on the history of concept car design and special characteristics.
KAMA officials said the seminar will be a good opportunity for students of auto design to learn about the past and present trends of auto designing.
KIDP will accept first 450 applicants who want to attend the seminar through its homepage (www.kidp.or.kr) from March 2 to March 30. The admission fee is 50,000 won per person. nw
