The 2007 Seoul Motor Show to display full array of latest car models and auto parts

The Seoul Motor Show Organization Committee (Chairman : Hoh Moon) held a "2007 Seoul Motor Show D-30 Press Conference"at the Seoul Press Center, on March 5, 2007, during which the Seoul Motor Show Organization Committee announced the current preparation status of the 2007 Seoul Motor Show and the characteristics and details of the exhibition subjects.
During the press conference, the Seoul Motor Show Organization Committee announced that the 2007 Seoul Motor Show will be held at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, for 11 days starting from the Press Day on April 5 to April 15. Under the theme of "Creation of the Imagination : A New World is Coming!" a wide range of subjects including automobiles, commercial vehicles, two-wheeled vehicles, auto parts, and commodities will be exhibited and displayed during the 2007 Seoul Motor Show. Most particularly, the organization committee also announced that, with comparative displays of new cars, concept cars,

and eco-friendly cars presented by the finished car companies, the visitors will be able to clearly see the general market flow of future cars, the principles of automobiles, and the latest automotive technologies all at a single glance.
- The Seoul Motor Show is the only bi-annual international motor show held in Korea that is certified by the Organization Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA). Being the 6th exhibition since 1995, a total of 186 companies from 10 different countries (120 domestic companies and 66 foreign companies) will be participating in the 2007 Seoul Motor Show. The organization committee is expecting this year's show to be of the largest scale in history selling tickets to over 1 million visitors.
Particularly, the 2007 Seoul Motor Show is expected to show a more upgraded exhibition as compared to the past Seoul Motor Shows. To begin with, for the first time in the Seoul Motor Show history, the display area of foreign finished car companies will be exceeding the display area of the domestic finished car companies (i.e., 14,370 m2 for domestic automakers and 14,400 m2 for foreign automakers), which is one of the basic characteristics an international motor show.
Additionally, 20 new car models will be unveiled during this event, wherein Kia Motors'KND-4, Hyundai Motors'HND-3, and Ssangyong Motors'D130 will be making their global debuts.
- BMW's Hydrogen 7 and X5 3.0d, Audi's S5, Ford's New Mondeo 2.0 Ghia TDCi, and Peugeot's Coupe 407 HDi will be unveiled for the first time in Asia.
- Renault-Samsung's H45, Hyundai Motors'FD 5Door, FD Wagon and TQ, Jeep's Wrangler Rubicon, Dodge's Nitro, Ford's S-MAX 2.0 Titanium TDCi, Volkswagen's Golf GTI Fahrenheit, EOS, and Touareg V10 TDI Individual, Volvo's All-New S80 4.4 AWD Executive, Land Rover's Discovery 3 G4 Special Edition, etc. will make their first national appearances.
Moreover, the exhibition will also be presenting the ultra-luxurious car brand,
Bentley, which participates for the first time in the Seoul Motor Show, and one of the leading sports car brands, Porsche. Both car brands are rare and hard to come by in Korea.
Furthermore, various concept cars that show the basic ideas of future car models, ecologically friendly cars that denote the harmony between humans and cars, a variety of diesel cars that demonstrate excellent mileage will also be exhibited. Also, major auto part manufacturers both domestic and foreign, including Hyundai Mobis, Siemens Automotive VDO, Robert Bosch, and Delphi, will be participating in this event to introduce their high-tech and state-of-the-art futuristic auto parts and commodities.
Meanwhile, for a splendid, dynamic, and unique exhibition that can lead the trend of the global automobile market, the 2007 Seoul Motor Show is preparing a wide range of sub-events including international seminars associated with automobiles, such as "Korea-China-Japan International Forum" "Telematics Forum" "International Seminar on Automobile Design", and other entertainment events in which the visitors may also participate, such as "Self-Invented Automobile Contest for University Students in Korea" "Car Design Contest for University Students", "4WD Test-Driving Event", "Cart Test-Driving Experience", "Best Car Awards"for the cars that highlighted the motor show, "UCC Contest", "Lucky Draw for a Brand New Car", etc.
For the convenience of the visitors, reserved ticketing for the 2007 Seoul Motor Show is available at Interpark (Tel.: 1544-1555, ticket.interpark.com, www.interpark.com), from February 15 to March 15. The regular entrance fees are 6,000 won for students from ages 6 to 18, and 9,000 won for adults. However, reserved tickets are available with a special discount for 4,000 won for students from ages 6 to 18, and 7,000 won for adults.
The Seoul Motor Show Organization Committee expects the 2007 Seoul Motor Show to attract approximately 8,000 foreign buyers, to carry out 1 billion dollars'worth of exports consulting, and to produce an economic ripple effect of 800 billion won in diverse areas including employment, production, tourism, and transportation and shipping. Additionally, with the successful opening of the 2007 Seoul Motor Show, the organization committee also expects this bi-annual event to contribute to the development and growth of the Korean automotive industry. Furthermore, the organization committee is planning to make extensive improvements in order to create firm grounds for the Seoul Motor Show to be recognized and placed as one of the world's top 5 global motor shows along with the Frankfurt show in Germany, the Paris show in France, the Detroit show in Michigan, U.S.A., and the Tokyo show in Japan. nw
