Korea District Heating Corp. plans to secure stable sources of fuel
The Korea District Heating Corp. will do its best to advance into overseas operations this year, the company's President Kim Young-nam stressed, in outlining the company's plans for this year. He said the purpose of the overseas operations for an energy company is to secure a stable source of fuel. In this context, the company will set up operations in the collective energy businesses, energy businesses, and urban development projects, along with a plan to secure a stable energy source.
The CEO called on every officer and staff of the company to make suggestions or provide good ideas out of love and interest in the company's growth, while doing fully their given jobs for the company. He said he will see that the company will reimburse for those who provided fresh ideas or suggestions to upgrade the company's operations. He said the company expected its operations last year would not be on track, but the numbers indicated otherwise due to your efforts to cut expenses, so that the company would end the year in the black.
The CEO said we all have to be alert about not to cause inconveniences to our customers during the winter, the peak season for heating, by doing our utmost to supply stable heat to them.
The Korea District Heating Corp. is very proud of the 2006 Korea Management Grand Award in the area of ethical management that it won for 2 years in a row from the Korea Productivity Center last year in a ceremony held at Seoul Grand Hilton Hotel attended by some 1,200 officers and staff of the companies that won the awards.
The company is especially proud of the fact that it won the award in the same area for twice in a row following its winning of the award in the area of public interest sector in 2003.
The company was launched in 1985 with the purpose of saving energy, improving environment, and increased convenience of the people across the country and it now has grown to be the largest district heating company in the world with district heating facilities in 12 localities including Bundang, Goyang, Daegu, and Cheongju, among other cities, supplying heat to the residents in those cities.
Since the company announced the declaration of ethical management and held a rally to realize it in June 2003, it drew up the regulations for ethics, the ethical management committee, and launched the campaign to help the operation of ethical management to become the company's culture.
The company has been following up on its ideal to create a "happy energy world"to build a sustainable growth base under a strong management reform and as a result, the company has been acclaimed as a leader in innovation in the government innovation evaluation of public corporations.
The company has been conducting many activities in the social contribution area led by the leadership and management philosophy of President Kim Young-nam, who stressed the social responsibility of public organizations.
The company has been particularly concerned with helping socially alienated people including the disabled, those incapacitated while serving in the military, and those from rural areas who have trouble landing jobs. The company hired more than 50 percent of the new employees with those socially alienated people last year.
The company has been lauded for such charitable work being complimented as doing its share of social responsibility as a public firm fully and becoming a model to other public companies.
The company also forged a sisterhood relationship with Yemi Primary School in Cheongson, Gangwon Province, in an effort to close the gap between cities and farm villages. The "Yemi Guardian Angel Team"has been providing a variety of services to the school's students including English lessons, and tours of cities in an effort to nurture talented students to become leaders in society in the future.
The company's "share happiness team"has been giving help to senior citizens living alone and the young children who have to feed their families by visiting their houses. nw
