In Love with Nature
Mixed Media Artist Son uses natural approach method in her expression of nature, relying on her basic instinct for beauty
Mixed media artist Son Jin-sook believes that nature has been the subject of esthetic consideration from the time immemorial and those that are seen and not seen, creation and demise went around circles to continuously provide sensual echoes for life and art. She would rather prefer discovering nature naturally than approaching it in a formative manner planned ahead or based on experience through direct observation that agrees with basic sensuality to the root called nature.
On rough papers, she covers them with ink and dyestuff and covers them again with a board paper and remove it with a sharp tool so that the surface would look as if it has the traces of performance. By placing the tunes from the paper's disciplined lines here and there to create spaces for materialistic existence over the spaces made by paintings.
Flowers in the mind as nature is so beautiful, the painter removes them to the canvas in a semi-abstract style.
In the same shape as the subject in the inner space, the painter painted it so that it would look nice and with painting-like tastes on a board paper.
The artwork by mixed media artist Sohn impact the viewers with their explosive mixture of colors with flowers as motifs.
They look as though those objects are ready to fly out of the surfaces of the Korean board papers they are painted on. The color ensembles are nicely balanced to give refined looks as they are in their natural habitats.
