KAL Opens Regular Cargo Flights
between Incheon and Seattle


Launches passenger flights to Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan


Korean Air launched regular three times-weekly cargo flights between Incheon and Seattle, the northwestern gate of the United States.
Starting June 1, KAL has put B747-400F cargo aircraft on the Incheon-Seattle route via Los Angeles on three times per week - on Tuesday, Fridays and Saturdays.
Seattle is a city with large cargo volume with accommodation of such global giants as the production assembly lines of global aircraft maker Boeing, Microsoft and Starbucks headquarters and the development of diverse industries like automobile and shipbuilding. The city, located half way between Vancouver, Canada and Portland, the United States, has geographical advantages of becoming a logistic hub of the northwestern region of the North American Continent.
KAL has provided cargo services as it has operated four times-weekly passenger flights between Incheon and Seattle since June 2005. The launch of regular cargo flights will have synergistic effects, and it will likely contribute to improving Korean companies'competitive edge and cargo owner's convenience.
Last February, KAL opened regular cargo flights between Incheon and Chenab, India.
KAL, the global No.1 cargo carrier, plans to make aggressive investments and explore foreign markets as part of its efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of the cargo business sector. The national flag carrier will introduce the latest two cargo craft B747-400ERFs this year while remodeling passenger aircraft B747-400s into freighters.
MORE PASSENGER FLIGHTS TO JAPAN. KAL has opened three times-weekly passenger flights between Incheon and Hakodate, the gateway to Hokkaido, Japan.
Starting June 1, KAL has placed a 249-seat B737-800, on the Incheon-Hakodate route on three times per week - on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. KE773 departs Incheon at 9:45 a.m. and arrives in Hakodate at 12:05 a.m. The returning flight, KE774 leaves Hakodate at 1:55 p.m. and returns back to Incheon at 4:55 p.m.
KAL's passenger flight to Hakodate, together with the existing Incheon-Sapporo flight and Busan-Sapporo flight that become operational on June 1, will establish a flight network in the Hokkaido area, providing diverse tour products and enhancing passengers'convenience.
Hakodate, both the gate of Hokkaido and the first port city opened to foreign countries, is famous for being a symbol of Japan's modernization. nw
