'Upgrading Nuclear Power Safety'

Some 200 experts attends the Nuclear Power Safety Symposium 2006


The Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. Power Generation Division (Senior Vice President Hong Jang-hee) organized the Nuclear Power Safety Symposium 2006 at the Seoul Kyoyuk Munhwa Hoekwan in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul on June 20.
About 200 experts from industry, campus and research institution circles participated in the symposium held with support from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Korea Electrical Engineering & Science Research Institute, Korea Electric Power Research Institute, and eight other institutions.
Lee Moon-ki, director general of the Atomic Bureau at the Ministry of Science and Technology, delivered a congratulatory speech during the symposium, held under the theme of "Sophistication of Nuclear Power Safety and Operational Technology."Three guest speakers, including Dr.
Aybars Guerpinar of IAEA and David Grabtree of Marathon Consulting gave lectures about such themes as "Advances in Nuclear Power Plant Operation Technology"and "Management of Nuclear Safety Culture in USA,"while tutorials on seven themes, including one on "Nuclear Power Plant Performance Management Improvement and Safety Improvement."The presentation of tutorials was followed by panel discussions on risk information availability and upgrading operation technologies and other issues. nw
