Korea Post signs deal with CJ Securities to sell securities products
Korea Post signed a business tie-up agreement with the CJ Securities Co. to sell securities at its sales outlets across the country totaling some 2,800. Korea Post outlets has started to handle the transaction of stocks, futures option, and beneficiary certificates under the agreement from June 8 in a move to expand the securities services to farm and fishing villages in the country. Hwang Jung-yon, president of Korea Post, signed the agreement at Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul June 7, designed to expand the Korea Post's handling of shares to its service as acting as agents for buying and selling of stock certificates including installment-type also for the securities firm.
President Hwang said Korea Post has been made to play its role more faithfully as a state-run financial body through the agreement with CJ Securities. Korea Post at the forefront of providing diversified financial services to farm and fishing villages in remote areas, thereby narrowing the wealth gap between the regions.
Super Bowl Hero Heines Ward:
Korea Post signed an agreement with Korean-American football star Heines Ward to become a model for Korea Post's international mail service on May 27 in Seoul. The postal service organization said the U.S. Super Bowl MVP has been helping mixed blood children in difficulty in Korea giving them hopes and his warm and considerate mind are in good harmony with the postal office's social service activities under the slogan of "Love of the People, Postal Service,"and the image of the super U.S. football hero, who is mixed blood himself, can help Korea Post'international service win the intense competition in the area of international postal service against the well-known foreign competitors. The ads will be produced in this month for showing from September, Korea Post said.
In the meantime, Korea Post has also signed an agreement with the LG25 Distribution Co. to allow the convenience store chain to set up its stores in 100 of Korea Post outlets across the country. It said the 24-hour stores provide various postal services including the sale of stamps, mailing of parcels, envelops and other services. Accordingly, customers who want postal service, can also buy other goods from the convenience store located inside the postal office, while customers who want to purchase goods at the convenience store can also take care of their business at postal service at the same time. Since the Postal LG25 will open for 24 hours a day, postal services will be available around the clock, boosting Korea Post's public service.
For reference, the Japanese postal authority made an arrangement with Lawson, a convenience store chain in Japan, in August, 2003, and opened Postal Lawson at its premises across Japan providing a 24-hour service to its customers.
Park Jae-kyu, head of the postal service team of Korea Post, said Korea Post has been able to provide convenient service to its customers with the openings of No.1 Postal LG25 and No.2 Postal LG25 where high-quality goods and services will be available to customers. He said a total of 100 such stores will be set up by next year on a step-by-step basis which will virtually expand postal service by making them accessible at convenience stores located inside the Korea Post office around the country.
Korea Post is in charge of postal services and financial services by post offices. Its major businesses include providing basic postal services of handling and delivering postal matters(general mails and parcels). It also provides additional services(registered mails, acceptances of postal matters at customers'location, sales of local products by mail order, and postal errand service, etc. It also handles postal savings, postal,money order and postal giro, in addition to postal insurance.
