Event aimed at China's fabric and fashion markets by Korean textile makers
The Korea Federation of Textile Industries(Chairman Kyung Se-ho) held its 3rd seminar with the opening of "Preview in Shanghai 2006"scheduled for April 5-8 in Shanghai.
The seminar held at the Textile Center on February 8 was designed to show directions for strategies for Chinese textile market with information for fashion markets in major cities in China including Beijing and Shanghai and consumer creative fashion style in the neighboring country.
The event was broken down into major issues in Beijing and Shanghai fashion markets, including style influence, key colors, key fabrics, and trend items such as outer, top, bottom, accessories, and coordination points, among others.
The seminar focused on such issues as the analysis of fashion markets in major cities in China including Beijing and Shanghai and customer tastes backed up by solid examples.
The textile federation also presented a session called, "Preview in Shanghai 2006"following the seminar for participant firms in the event to explain various matters pertinent to the Shanghai fashion show ranging from booth installation, air travel, lodging, transportation, and customs clearance, among others, that participating firms should know in advance.
Prior to the opening of "Preview in Shanghai 2006"on April 5 in Shanghai, the federation staged a road show to the press and buyers on March 2 in Shanghai at the 2nd floor seminar room of Pudong Exhibition Center. The show was held for media people, including dailies, economic papers, textile and fashion magazines, to explain the major presentations at the upcoming display, the 4th one to be held in Shanghai, and trends in Korea's textile and fashion markets.
The Preview Shanghai 2006 to be held from April 5 8 at Shanghai Mart will display Korea's representative material, with 132 apparel firms scheduled to participate setting up 320 booths.
It will be divided into material and fashion halls and show off Korea's natural fabrics, synthetic fabrics, knit and functional material including clothes for men and women, casuals, children's clothes, underwear, all under famous brand names in Korea.
Producers of materials will include Hyosung, Haedong, Daeha Industry, Doksan Enterprise, Lin Texpia, Kyungwoong, Koban, Texlink, Wonkap, Pre-Wear, Seoan Trading, New Power Man Textile, among others. They will display high-quality and functional products aimed at overseas markets at the event.
The federation wants the Shanghai event to be a stage to help Korean textile and fashion products to penetrate high-priced Chinese market by strengthening its network in China, boosting the results from the event in China under a forceful marketing programs and making it different from similar events in China, the federation said.
Organizers said the show was scheduled to take place around the same time with CHIC, the biggest clothing exhibition in China to be held in Beijing so that the participants could easily attend the show in Shanghai. They also said the event will take place in Shanghai, China's biggest international city, to attract the attention of textile buying agencies for large U.S., and European dress makers, which is why they had to extend the duration of the show from three days to four days this time.
The distribution market in China has been changing, according to the 2nd seminar on Chinese distribution market held on December 16 organized by the Federation of Textile Industries in preparation for the Preview in Shanghai 2006. The seminar revealed that Beijing has a world fashion window and local cities have U.S.-style shopping malls and retail shops selling luxury goods. Also evident are an effort to differentiate brands with strategies and their prices depending on region, along with plans to set up exclusive department stores and shopping malls for Korean brand products. New trends also include the expansion of famous brand goods, an emphasis on character and concept, the launch of premium blue jean markets and detailed segregation of leisure-sports wear and expansion. nw
