The largest-ever exhibition to attract 330 exhibitors

The 12th Seoul International Machine Tool Show 2006 (SIMTOS2006) will kick off a six-day run starting April 12 at Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Goyang, north of Seoul, with some 330 exhibitors from 25 countries, including Korea, participating.
SIMTOS2006, Korea's largest manufacturing technology-specific exhibition, will be the largest-ever in Korea in terms of the number of exhibition booths and exhibition space, the organizer, Korea Machine Tool Manufactures'Association (KOMMA) said.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, the biennial exhibition will have a total of 3,320 booths, the largest number ever, including three country pavilions - from Germany, Taiwan and China. Taiwan will participate with 40 booths, the largest country exhibition number, while China will set up its first country pavilion during SIMTOS. Germany will show off advanced technologies during its country pavilion during SIMTOS2006 as they have every year.SIMTOS 2006, boasting the fifth largest machine tool exhibition will attract about 330 exhibitors from 25 countries. The participating countries also include Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, the United States and Russia. An estimated 100,000 spectators, including buyers from Korea and abroad, the biggest-ever figure in history of SIMTOS, are expected to visit booths during SIMTOS2006.
SIMTOS2006 will have exhibition space of 53,542 sq. meters, 2.8 times as large as that of SIMTOS2004, which covered 19,306 sq. meters at COEX.
SIMTOS has highlighted global state-of-the-art products and technologies since 1994, thus contributing to promoting trade and technology exchanges.
Twenty-six companies, put on a list of the global top 50 ranking, will be present during the forthcoming exhibition. SIMTOS2006 will display such heavy-loaded exhibits as largest-sale machine tools, presses, robots that could not be seen at the past exhibitions in Korea due to a shortage of display space and other exhibition restrictions. KINTEX is the venue of SIMTOS2006, which will make it possible to display large machines and presses.
Exhibits on display will follow: Metal Cutting Machines Category ― Machining centers, 5-face machining centers, CNC milling machines, grinding machines, electric discharge machines, high speed machines, special purpose machines, laser cutting machines, water jet cutting, machines etc; Robots Category ― industrial robots, services robots, field robots and accessories & parts; Tooling & Quality Assurance Category ― drills, endmills, reamers, taps, milling cutters, hobs, grinding stone, cutting tools, tool holder, three dimensional measurement systems, machine-vision systems, and measuring equipment; Metal Forming Machines Category ― presses, punching machines, shearing machines, press brakes, bending machines, spinning machines, wire forming machines, bolt/nut forming machines, and thread rolling machines etc.; Factory Automation Category ― motor (AD/DC, Geared, Servo), drivers, CNC systems, PLC, inverters, stepping motors, LM guides, ball screws, reduction gears, automatic guided vehicle, index table, automatic voltage regulators, actuators, encoders, sensors, etc; and Machining Parts ― bearings, turret tool posts, hydraulic units, spindles, curvic couplings, hydraulic pumps, lubrication systems, oil coolers, chip conveyers, automatic loader & unloaders, work holder, CAD/CAM, ATC, APC etc.
CNC Controller Repair and Maintenance Workshop will be held as a side event of SIMTOS2006 between April 12 and April 13. Experts from such CNC producers as Doosan Infracore and Siemens, will have a question & answer session on how to cope with CNC breakdowns and repair them at the second floor conference room of KINTEX.
KOMMA will also organize the International Machine Tool Technology Seminar as a side event of SIMTOS2006, designed to introduce the latest machine tool products and advanced technology trends. The seminar will be held in the second floor conference room of KINTEX between April 14 and April 15. nw
