to 'Blue-Ocean'Strategy
Calls for staff to nourish a code of virtues for becoming 'a man of excellence'
Korea Post plans to introduce a "Blue-Ocean"strategy to create new markets, overhaul serves to the general public and raise sales.
Korea Post President Hwang Joong-yeon said in a speech during a management strategy meeting on February 3, "I give thanks to 40,000-odd postmen who had gone to great pains to ensure a smooth flow of mail during the Lunar New Year holiday period. A Blue-Ocean strategy will be introduced in the postal service sector to create new markets, reform services to people and boost sales in a bid to implement projects during 2006 as planned."He delivered the message before about 530 heads of telephone and postal service offices across the nation.
The meeting was convened to boost telephone and postal service heads'entrepreneurship and to pledge themselves to make the year 2006 a year for helping the third management of Korea Post make a leap.
Korea Post President Hwang urged his staff to cherish four virtues ¡ª learning for creativity, practicing love toward the public, changing thinking to open mindset,
and ownership and passion. Korea Post became the first government agency to introduce a code of virtues its staff members have to foster to become "a man of excellence."Korea Post President Hwang and other senior officials participated in a ceremony for declaring the code of virtues held on the same day and vowed to join forces in the drive.
Kang Hae-gu, the author of the best-selling "Blue-Ocean Strategy,"and president of VIAC Korea, gave a lecture on the Blue-Ocean strategy in the postal service sector. The chiefs of the Gangdong Post Office in Seoul and Andong Post Office in North Gyeongsang Province presented lectures on the efficient management of postal delivery manpower and strengthening marketing capabilities through restructuring of postal door-to-door delivery, respectively.
TELE-CONFERENCE ¡ª Korea Post established an interactive, multi-party tele-conference system.
Korea Post President Hwang presided over the inaugural tele-conference meeting of telephone and postal service offices across the nation on the flow of mail during the Lunar New Year holiday season on January 17.
The system is expected to contributing to improving work efficiency as the chiefs of regional offices do need to come to Seoul for their participation in conferences and can communicate with the headquarters at their offices.
Korea Post is in charge of postal services and financial services by post offices. Its major businesses include providing basic postal services of handling and delivering postal matters(general mails and parcels). It also provides additional services(registered mails, acceptances of postal matters at customers'location, sales of local products by mail order, and postal errand service, etc. It also handles postal savings, postal,money order and postal giro, in addition to postal insurance.
Korea Post has one division, two bureaus, 12 departments(management & planning division, postal service bureaus, financial service bureau, and audit section.)
The letters are letter post items that sealed the correspondence with the stated post items. However, literature for the blind, received at the window, and large sending printed papers or small package are excepted from letters, which are approved from the receipt post office chief, and sent sealed.
Generally, letters mean documents that have the quality of correspondence. But for global mail, it also includes the following: 1.Mail that doesn't meet the other conditions except those of letters. Namely, mail affiliated with other categories; 2.Letters with a perishable biological substances and radioactive substances are included.
Letters should be undertaken or general terms of package of post items. In case of sealed letters, it should be formed a rectangle for proper handling. nw
