KAL Certified for Ground
Services for 4th Straight Year

Offers amenity kit to economy-class passengers

Korean Air (KAL) has been certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for offering world-class ground passenger and freight services for the fourth straight year.
KAL obtained the certificate for AHM 804 IATA System for Performance Measurement of Service Delivery Standards or AHM 804 for the fourth straight year in 2005 since 2002, earning recognition for providing its ground services within international standards.
KAL was recertified by IATA since the airline was awarded with the AHM 804 Certificate in August 2002 for the first time in Korea for offering not only airport passenger services as boarding, immigration/emigration, cargo handling and observance of safety regulations but also cargo services, including cargo receipts, transport, storage and delivery.
KAL officials said KAL has made its utmost to upgrade the quality of ground services and enhance its awareness toward ensuring safety.

MUCH COMFORTABLE ¡ª Starting January 28, KAL has provided an amenity kit to economy-class passengers aboard long-haul flights free of charge.
Airlines now offer an amenity kit primarily to first-class passengers. The amenity kit KAL provides to economy-class passengers includes an eye patch for sleeping, socks for overshoes, tooth brush and toothpaste. The kit is expected to help economy-class passengers enjoy a comfortable flight on long-haul routes, they said.
The amenity kit is available on such long-haul routes as flights to Oceania, including Australia, New Zealand and Fiji as well as flights to Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. The new service will be offered for flights departing for Korea starting from January 28 and overseas flights embarking on February 6.
Kim Jung-suk, general manager in charge of KAL's in-flight service team, said, "Economy-class customers, which take a lion's share among passengers, are expected to receive higher quality services in a bid to raise their customer satisfaction."Las year, KAL changed uniforms for its staff, including flight attendants, under a new corporate identity program. The airline has focused on enhancing a competitive edge through upgrading the quality of such services as in-flight internet service, interactive audio/video services.

MULTI-PURPOSE SATELLITE DESIGN ¡ª Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), part of the aerospace division of KAL, has landed a 15 billion won project to design the fuselages of multipurpose satellite Arirang No.3 and No. 5 and solar array structure. KARI will make a delivery of four experimental and artificial satellites by March 2008 after designing, manufacturing and test-operating them. nw
