Li displays the essence of traditional Chinese painting

                                 
The 8th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention that wrapped up its four-day run on October 12 at COEX in southeastern Seoul attracted as many as 2,500 Chinese businesspeople and other participants, including prominent Chinese painters and calligraphers.
Among the representative contemporary painters and calligraphers present at the convention, organized by the Korea Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, was Li Xiao-jun. Li? works depict the world of traditional Chinese Oriental painting. Li? soft and elegant touch, unlimited meditation of nature and love indicate "feeling at home in a native town."Peony flowers in Li's pieces are apparently soft- and sophisticated- colored to look like "the bosom of a mother."Employing diverse natural things, Li's works depict the reality of nature. The pieces show meditation of such things as peony blossoms, ume flowers and chrysanthemums with mild yet sharp and powerful combinations of lines.
Born in Beijing in February 1960, Li studied at calligraphy at Beijing Shifan University and fine arts at Shoudu Shifan University. He also studied at an advanced course of Chinese painting at Shoudu Shifan University Graduate School. He now serves as such diverse posts as the Chinese Paining Research Creative Work Society at the Chinese Ministry of Culture, a member of the Chinese Fine Arts Association and a member of the Chinese Calligraphers?Society, a member of the Beijing Painters'Association and vice chairman of the Xicheng Ward Calligraphers'Association in Beijing.
Li won several prizes, including the 8th Chinese Fine Arts Association Newcomers Work Competition, the 2000 Chinese Western Fine Arts Season New Works Exhibition and bronze prize in the 2002 All Chinese Paintings Exhibition. He participated in such events as the 2005 100 Youth Fine Arts Painters Invitational Exhibition.
