Samsung Launches World's
First ADSL2+ Full IP TPS Network

Offers the first triple play service to the Dutch market

Samsung Electronics has successfully launched the first ADSL2+ full IP triple play service (TPS) network in the world. In the Netherlands, Samsung realized this fast next generation network for communications network operator Versatel that is able to offer the first triple play service through ADSL2+ to the Dutch market, now.
A state-of-the art ADSL2+ network can provide services with speeds up to 24 Mbps. In this case, ADSL2+ enables Versatel to offer much faster and richer multi play services than providers using regular ADSL networks.
Raj Raithatha, chief executive officer of Versatel, stated: "Versatel is the first Dutch operator that provides multi media services over ADSL2+. Our ADSL2+ network has given us the necessary bandwidths to transmit television, video, telephony and internet services through a single copper line, thus giving Versatel a leading role in the introduction of new multi play services in the Netherlands. Given the tight time frame and the innovative character of the services, Samsung has proven to be a dedicated and reliable partner in the roll out of ADSL2+ in the Netherlands."In eight months, Samsung managed to deploy an ADSL2+ full IP TPS network in the Netherlands.
This turn key end-to-end solution consists of the delivery, integration and installation of next generation network components, including soft switches, media gateways, trunk gateways, DSLAMs, media farms and Ethernet switches. To complete the solution, Samsung has delivered integrated access devices (IADs) and IP set top boxes for triple play services, and broadcast servers.
Patrick Bosschart, European Business Director of Samsung Telecommunication Network System Division, said: "Through a successful launch of this first ADSL2+ full IP network in the world, Samsung demonstrated its capability as an end-to-end solution provider, establishing and designing a comprehensive network for business partners. Thanks to our leadership in consumer electronics, IP technology and our large experience in the design and integration of large-scale networks for service operators, we have created a competitive advantage in the development of next generation networks."Versatel, based in Amsterdam, is a competitive communications network operator and a leading alternative to the former monopoly telecommunications carriers in its target market of the Benelux and Germany.
Founded in October 1995, the Company holds full telecommunication licenses in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and has over 1 million customers and approximately 2,000 employees. Versatel operates a facilities-based local access broadband network that uses the latest network technologies to provide business customers with high bandwidth voice, data and Internet services. Versatel is a publicly trade company on Euronext Amsterdam under the symbol "VRSA."
