Business Meeting
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the Korea-Vietnam Business Meeting on June 28 at the Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel to discuss business deals with member of young Vietnamese businessmen.
A total of 70 business deals were taken up at the meeting in such key business sectors as trading, investment in construction, and home electronic appliances, among others.
Bui Quang Hao, commercial councilor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Seoul, said he expected the meeting will go a long way in strengthening the strong trade relations between Korea and Vietnam, which has been growing lately, especially in the areas of trade and investment.
The 15-man Vietnamese delegation headed by Dau Manh Hung, vice chairman of VYEA, included such promising Vietnamese companies as Kocco Electronic Co., Song Da Corp. and Thuy Da Co.
KCCI Launches Sustainable Management Institute
The Sustainable Management Institute formally opened for business following its name board hanging ceremony on June 28 attended a score of dignitaries including Reps. Kim Yong-kap, chairman of the National Assembly Industry-Resources Committee, Lee Kyung-jae, chairman of the National Assembly Environment-Labor Committee and Lee Hee-beom, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy. Park Yong-sung is the chairman of the new institute.
Chairman Park, in his opening speech, said every level of society including the government, academics, civilian environment groups, should get together and work for providing clean environment to the next generation so that they would become economically and socially opulent. The institute will provide opinions and suggestions on various issues that confront our society, the chairman said to explain the institute? mission.
Rep. Kim Yong-kap, chairman of the National Assembly Industry Resources Committee, said the problems related to environmental issues should be resolved among directly-related parties through intensive dialogues and they should be ready to make concessions when necessary to make the dialogue work.
Commerce, Industry and Energy Minister Lee Hee-beom said the government has been helping the environmental management by building Green Partnership and he will see that the government would have a close cooperation with the institute.
ICCI Celebrates 120th Anniversary
The Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry celebrated its 120th anniversary at Ramada Songdo Hotel July 4 attended by some 200 members of the regional chapter and many government officials headed by Incheon City Mayor Ahn Sang-soo.ICCI handed out 23rd ICCI Grand Prize on the same day.
Kim Jeong-chi, chairman of the ICCI, in his commemorative speech, said ICCI will be working for the success of its member businessmen as it has had since its inception 120 years ago; It will share the pain and pleasure with Incheon businesses and business people and it will try to be a top partner for and a close supporter for its members.
Mayor Ahn, in his congratulatory speech, said he would like to see that regional residents and business people will together search for ways to upgrade the competitive edge of both regional and national economy.
Park Yong-sung, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in his speech read by Kim Sang-yol, standing vice chairman of the KCCI, said ICCI should be developed to be an organization that people can rely on and trust, taking into consideration all and diversified voices of regional society and try to resolve them.
Lee Sung-gu, co-chairman of the Love Incheon Movement Citizens Council, in his speech, said 2.6 million Incheon citizens are fully aware that business development make better Incheon and national development and read a declaration that calls for the realization of the love business campaign.
In the meantime, the ICCI staged a performance of founding anniversary by Incheon Municipal Chorus in front of some 1,000 citizens at the Incheon Integrated Cultural Art Hall on July 1. nw
