IMID 2005 showcases trends of world display industry at COEX exhibition
The 2005 International Meeting on Information Display and Exhibition(IMID 2005) held a display July 19-23, showing trends of the world display industry at the COEX in southern Seoul.
The event under the support of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy put on show many key display equipment from around the world including LCD,PDP, and OLED to show the current trends of the world display industry and its future.
About 145 makers from eight countries including Japan, Taiwan, the U.S., France, Germany and Korea, among others, showed off such high-tech equipment as 50-inch XGA class single scan PDP(LG Electronics), 82-inch TFT-LCD TV(Samsung Electronics), among others, from their 406 booths at the Pacific Hall of the COEX.
The academic meeting held July 19-23 had some 2,000 experts from around 20 countries attending who presented a total of 437 papers on display products.
Kim Young-min, chief of the semiconductor electric section of the Commerce, Industry and Energy Ministry said Korean companies have shown that they made their country the top producer of display products in the world by exhibiting their high-tech products to the world boosting their images, along with the national image, which will help expand exports of their products.
The MOCIE official said the presentation of so many papers on high-tech products would make possible for Korea to be a top country in basic research on display products, but also in industrial capability.
World market for flat display products totaled $506.3 million with Korean share amounting to $194.6 million or 38.4 percent of the market last year. nw
