KGCCI's New Chairman
The Korea German Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appointed Chairman Lee Soo-young of the DC Chemical Co. as its chairman with the board of directors agreeing with the appointment on June 20. The new KGCCI chairman during his two-year tenure will represent the KGCCI and provide consultations for the board of directors and the secretary-general of the KGCCI on major policies.
A graduate of Gyeonggi High School in 1960, Lee graduated from Yonsei University in 1964. From 1970, he was the managing director of DC Chemical before his promotion to president of the company in 1978 and then to chairman in 1996.
From 2000 to 2002, he was the chairman of the Federation of Asia-Pacific Chamber of Commerce and Industry. From 2001 to 2004, he was the chairman of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in addition to being the chairman of the Korea Employer's Federation.
Established in 1981 by German companies doing business in Korea, KGCCI has been an exchange window for bridging business transactions between Korea and Germany with its members totaling more than 300 firms. nw
