Medison, maker of ultrasonic diagnostic equipment, recently announced its plan to be a top maker of the equipment by 2010 shoving aside Ziemens and GE, among others.
The medical instrument maker's Vision 2010 reviews its past 20 years of performance since its launch in 1985 as well as coping with new challenges on the way to becoming a top ultrasonic diagnostic instrument maker in the world by 2010.
The company estimates that it is now the 4th largest ultrasonic diagnostic instrument maker in the world and it will take over the top position by 2010 under its office ethics of loving work, customers, and fellow workers.
In order to achieve the target, the company will integrate its technologies and at the same time segregate them while pushing continuous research and development aimed at effective manufacturing to gain innovative values.
In the marketing sector, the company will try to expand market targets and customer numbers under a strategy of selection and concentration.
In the area of management, the company will aim at breaking out of its start-up company image and become a leading company in the world.
The first stage of the vision calls for achieving an annual sales of 200 billion won by 2006 with operating profit of 17 percent; the second stage until 2008 is aimed at raising annual sales to 350 billion won with an operating profit of 20 percent; And finally at the third stage, sales would rise to 500 billion won with an operating profit of 25 percent.
The company hopes to graduate from court management this year earlier than expected based on improvement in performance and other conditions that it would be able to meet on good terms, although it would ultimately depend on talks with creditors and shareholders.
President Lee Seung-woo said the company is close to catching up with such advanced competitors as Ziemens, GE, and Philips and he is sure that Medison would be able to perform shoulder-to-shoulder with them by 2010.
